6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nazz Smooth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Joseph Dddddd! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dddddd tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smooth sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dddddd somewhat. Smooth tries to clinch but Dddddd moves out of range. Smooth is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dddddd's half guard. Dddddd flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Smooth decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Smooth tries to clinch but Dddddd moves out of range. Smooth tries to clinch up and Dddddd counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. This has been an exciting period of action! Smooth kicks Dddddd off and gets to his feet. Dddddd changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smooth tries to avoid it but Dddddd manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smooth to the ground. Smooth escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Smooth moves in looking to clinch but Dddddd pushes him off. Dddddd tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smooth swivels and escapes. Nazz Smooth has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joseph Dddddd. Dddddd shoots in but no luck this time. Dddddd shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smooth manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Smooth utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smooth has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Dddddd off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Dddddd avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smooth gets the takedown into side control. Dddddd is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Smooth tries to stand but Dddddd is controlling his head. Dddddd has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Smooth stands up and beckons Dddddd to his feet. Smooth stuffs the takedown attempt from Dddddd. Smooth is looking to clinch. A momentary lapse in concentration from Smooth enables Dddddd to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smooth manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Smooth working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dddddd. Dddddd stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smooth swivels though and keeps the full guard. Smooth wants to stand but Dddddd is controlling the position. Dddddd trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Dddddd postures up in Smooth's guard and throws a big left but Smooth blocks it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dddddd accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Dddddd stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Smooth closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dddddd is trying to control Smooth's posture but Smooth avoids it. Dddddd regains half guard. Dddddd makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Dddddd. Smooth tries to stand but Dddddd is controlling from the bottom. Dddddd looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dddddd is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Smooth is aware though and is defending well. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dddddd is on top in guard.
Dddddd advances position into side control! Dddddd decides to stand up, so the ref orders Smooth to his feet. Horrible takedown by Dddddd or perhaps it was just good defense by Smooth which made him look bad. Nazz Smooth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Smooth closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Dddddd has one of Smooth's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Smooth has left one of his arms exposed and Dddddd doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Smooth screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Matsukata is looking to control Rapport's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Matsukata avoid being mounted? Matsukata is staying active underneath Rapport, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Rapport seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Matsukata is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rapport is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Matsukata trying to control the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Takeo Matsukata hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Rapport gets caught flat footed, as Matsukata shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Matsukata wants to stand but Rapport is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Takeo Matsukata will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Rapport closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rapport lands in his opponent's guard. Matsukata looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Rapport looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Matsukata dives in and grabs Rapport's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rapport pushes down on Matsukata's head and hops out. Matsukata tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rapport swats him away and circles back towards the center. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Matsukata. Matsukata fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Matsukata is breathing heavily. Rapport shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Rapport is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Matsukata has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Rapport is looking to defend but Matsukata has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Rapport! Matsukata pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Rapport taps out and this one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Troopa throws a big shot that misses. Troopa is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ellis. Troopa swings widly with a right hand
and Ellis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Ellis tries to land a front kick but Troopa steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Troopa displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ellis throws out the jab. Troopa throws out a loose jab but Ellis uses good head movement to avoid it. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Ellis avoids the body shot from Troopa.

Price closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Price tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Zen avoids it. Zen jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Price walks away with a smile on his face. Zen gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Price throws a sloppy head kick and Zen moves out of range easily. Price tries to clinch up. Price tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Zen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Zen ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
