The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sakaki clinches. Sakaki gets control of Monstar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sakaki will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Sakaki throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Monstar escapes and throws Sakaki's legs to the side, diving into side control! Sakaki is breathing heavily. Sakaki is trying to control Monstar's posture but Monstar avoids it. Monstar stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monstar gets tackled into the cage by Sakaki. Sakaki maintains the clinch. Monstar looking to slow down the pace here. Monstar avoiding damage.
Sakaki is trying to trip Monstar. He has hold of a leg but Monstar is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Sakaki persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Sakaki with a flurry of punches that miss.

Sakaki has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Monstar is trying to keep an underhook but Sakaki manages to get the takedown into half guard. Monstar is pressing down on Sakaki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Sakaki throws a strike but Monstar rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Monstar stands up and waves to Sakaki to follow him.

A head kick by Monstar misses and Monstar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Sakaki showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Monstar.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sakaki pushes Monstar up against the cage in a clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sakaki wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Sakaki manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Monstar on his heels. He'll look to pass Monstar's guard now, I'm sure. Sakaki is looking to advance position but Monstar has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Monstar stands up from mount. Strange move. Sakaki closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sakaki seems to be looking for submissions.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Monstar is pressing down on Sakaki's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sakaki being controlled here momentarily. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Sakaki looking to sit in guard and control but Monstar gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Shio Sakaki overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Sakaki is striking but Monstar is not phased and passes to half guard.

and Sakaki counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Monstar is lucky that one didn't land flush. Monstar throws a push kick but Sakaki slaps the foot to one side. Sakaki clinches up with Monstar and pushes him back against the cage. Sakaki is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Sakaki looking to throw knees to the head but Monstar is blocking nicely.
A frustrated look appears on Sakaki's face as he tries to break the clinch. Sakaki is struggling to control the position. Monstar is looking to control Sakaki's arms but Sakaki gets an underhook and turns him. Now Monstar has his back to the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sakaki dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Monstar is trying to stall.
Sakaki is trying to maintain a safe position but Monstar gets an underhook and turns Sakaki into the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sakaki is leaning against Monstar and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Sakaki as Monstar tries to tie him up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Let's hope that Monstar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Sakaki throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Monstar was covering up waiting for the punch and Sakaki finishes the takedown easily into guard. Monstar has control of Sakaki's left arm, preventing Sakaki from doing any damage. Sakaki could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

He's being very persistent here but Monstar manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Sakaki is working an open guard so Monstar takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Monstar is trying to slow the pace down but that's a couple of times in a row that he's tried to get underhooks and Sakaki has denied him. Kid closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kid lands in his opponent's guard. Spar bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kid's guard. Spar's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Wrestling Spar wasn't doing enough on the ground. Spar takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kid feints and as Spar raises his hands in defense, Kid changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Spar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Spar tries to get out of the position. Spar controlling the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spar looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kid is one step ahead there. Kid trying to control the position from guard on top but Spar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
OK we're going to have a standup here. KO Kid hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Spar throws a half hearted mid kick. Spar swings widly with a right hand
and Kid counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Spar is lucky that one didn't land flush. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A momentary lapse in concentration from Spar enables Kid to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Spar manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spar is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Kid trying to control from the bottom.
Kid trying to get back to full guard but Spar takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Spar sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Kid is looking to improve his position but Spar isn't that keen on the idea.

KO Kid dominated that round. That's time! Spar's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
No joy there for Kid, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Spar throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Spar throws a lazy body kick and Kid makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Spar really felt that one! Kid throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Spar tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kid is in Spar's guard. Kid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Spar lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kid! Spar takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spar's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Wrestling Spar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kid tries to hold on but Spar pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spar looking to control and managing it successfully.

Spar has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Spar keeps control of Kid as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Kid gets control of Spar's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kid will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Spar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Kid is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Spar dives into side control.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wrestling Spar. I think Spar has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Fight Team looks gassed! Hunter connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Fight Team's hands. Hunter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fight Team manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Hunter advances position into side control!

Uppercuts and crosses smash into Mma's face. Mma staggers backwards, shaken. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Horse throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Mma stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Horse pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Mma back to the cage. Horse follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Horse comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cole Burns. Burns closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
