Deacon comes into the arena with You Raise me Up by Josh Groban blaring out of the sound system. Knox has chosen Something I Can Never Have as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bishop Deacon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Knox! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knox misses with a few strikes there.
Knox swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Deacon looks to land a left hand but Knox moved out of range nicely. Knox comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Deacon misses with a takedown attempt - Knox sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Deacon throws a chopping leg kick but Knox manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Knox shoots in and bounces Deacon off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Deacon wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Knox is now in half guard. Deacon looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Knox tries to pass the half guard into mount. Deacon knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Deacon controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Nope, Abilene circles away and we're back to standing. Driftwood shoots in for a takedown but Abilene shows good takedown defense. Driftwood closes the distance and lands a one-two. A nice combination there by Driftwood.

Pilot Abilene has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otis Driftwood. Driftwood uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Abilene. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Clarke lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Manson has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Manson and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Manhoef moves out of range of the strikes. Schulte has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
It looks like Brian Schulte has been cut. Manhoef cracks Schulte with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Schulte shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Manhoef as he avoids it easily. Schulte feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Manhoef wants to stand up but Schulte is controlling him. Schulte slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Manhoef is looking to stand back up but Schulte counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Manhoef. Schulte wants to pass to mount but Manhoef is defending the position.
