Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Maciej Jewtuszko! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Khabib Nurmagomedov! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jewtuszko lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jewtuszko shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nurmagomedov's guard. Nurmagomedov has his foot on Jewtuszko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jewtuszko works his way back into a safe position though. Nurmagomedov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jewtuszko stands up and waves to Nurmagomedov to follow him. Jewtuszko has closed the distance and engaged Nurmagomedov in a clinch.
Nurmagomedov wants to get back to striking at distance but Jewtuszko won't allow it.
Jewtuszko pulls guard effortlessly. Nurmagomedov is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jewtuszko is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jewtuszko has escaped and now he's on top! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nurmagomedov throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jewtuszko uses it to pass to side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jewtuszko throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Jewtuszko throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Jewtuszko looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Nurmagomedov is avoiding damage well.
Jewtuszko decides to stand back up. Nurmagomedov shoots in and drives through. Jewtuszko sprawls well. Nurmagomedov gets caught flat footed, as Jewtuszko shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Nurmagomedov isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Jewtuszko stacks Nurmagomedov on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Jewtuszko! Nurmagomedov looks gassed! Jewtuszko in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nurmagomedov dodges the ground and pound from Jewtuszko. You can see the frustration on Nurmagomedov's face as Jewtuszko controls the position. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jewtuszko decides to take the fight back to the feet. Nurmagomedov gets caught napping as Jewtuszko dives in and scores a takedown. Nurmagomedov manages to retain guard. Jewtuszko slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Jewtuszko preventing the sweep. Nurmagomedov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jewtuszko postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Nurmagomedov controls Jewtuszko momentarily but Jewtuszko frees himself. Jewtuszko tries to stand but Nurmagomedov is controlling from the bottom. Jewtuszko won't allow Nurmagomedov to sweep him here. Jewtuszko wanted to stand there but Nurmagomedov had control of the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jewtuszko looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Jewtuszko working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jewtuszko bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Nurmagomedov can't do much from the bottom here. Nurmagomedov gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Jewtuszko thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nurmagomedov's head. Nurmagomedov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jewtuszko pulls his head out easily. Jewtuszko performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Jewtuszko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nurmagomedov defends it well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jewtuszko in particular looking to stall. Jewtuszko wants to free his trapped foot but Nurmagomedov is holding on for dear life with his legs. Nurmagomedov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jewtuszko pulls his head out easily. Nurmagomedov is breathing heavily. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jewtuszko in particular looking to stall. Maciej Jewtuszko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Nurmagomedov has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jewtuszko is working away from the top position though.

Nurmagomedov sprawls well initially but Jewtuszko persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jewtuszko controlling the pace. Jewtuszko frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Jewtuszko punching from mount but Nurmagomedov doing a good job of avoiding damage. Jewtuszko misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Nurmagomedov manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Jewtuszko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Jewtuszko blocks Nurmagomedov's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jewtuszko thowing shots but they're missing. Jewtuszko throwing strikes here but Nurmagomedov is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Nurmagomedov gets back to half guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jewtuszko is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Quinton Jackson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
