15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hale Hernandez! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Basaev checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Hernandez turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Basaev throws a series of punches but Hernandez moves out of range. Hernandez throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Basaev's head. Basaev takes a swing at Hernandez's ribcage but misses. Hernandez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Basaev. Hernandez throws a sloppy head kick and Basaev moves out of range easily. Basaev blocks a head kick by Hernandez.

Basaev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hernandez circles away quickly and effectively. Basaev takes a kick to the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Basaev scores with a hook to the body. Hernandez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Basaev tries to bum rush Hernandez with a series of wild strikes but Hernandez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Basaev checks a leg kick. Hernandez fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Basaev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. A combination from Basaev does no damage. Basaev takes a swing at Hernandez's ribcage but misses. Hernandez misses with a body shot.
Hernandez throws a jab when Basaev was well out of range. Hernandez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Basaev. Hernandez lands with a cross. Hernandez throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Basaev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The cut above Hale Hernandez's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Hernandez might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Basaev has got the better of the exchanges. Basaev throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Hale Hernandez's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hale Hernandez's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santana scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Santana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Middleton bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Middleton works over Santana's head and body with a nice combination. Middleton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Santana swats him away and circles back towards the center. Middleton throws a series of punches but Santana avoids them all with ease. Santana drives through with a takedown into Middleton's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Santana wants to control from the top but Middleton keeps moving. Santana controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Santana won't allow Middleton to sweep him here.

Middleton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Santana stops Middleton from standing up. Santana passes into half guard. Middleton is trying to stand back up but Santana is controlling him
Santana wants to stand but Middleton has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Santana is just content to waste time from the top position. Middleton takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Santana postures up.

Middleton makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Middleton lands a head shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santana with a poor takedown and Middleton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Santana gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Middleton counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The fight moves into the clinch position. Santana pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Santana keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pool shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Claudio wants to control but Pool is having none of it. Pool throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Pool working away from the top, dropping strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pool pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Pool looking to finish with strikes here!
Claudio in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pool is in the full mount, landing strikes. Pool has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pool looking to ground and pound but Claudio is blocking nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pool landing shots from mount. Pool thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Claudio tries to hold on but Pool postures up. Claudio slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Claudio avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Pool. Pool with the ground and pound but Claudio uses the opportunity to regain guard. Claudio wants to stand and escape but Pool is having none of it. Claudio preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Claudio has his foot on Pool's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pool works his way back into a safe position though. Pool in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Claudio working a defensive guard here.
Pool throws a strike but Claudio rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pool is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pool tries to break free but Claudio pushes him back against the cage. Pool wants to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Claudio looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pool is one step ahead there. Pool gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Pool tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Claudio swivels and escapes. Pool clinches up against the cage. The referee is keeping an eye on Pool - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Claudio breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Pool takes the fight into the clinch.

Pool is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Pool's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pool breaks from the clinch.
Pool closes the distance looking to clinch and Claudio counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Claudio throws a combination that misses and Pool counters with a flying knee. Nice. Harper Pool showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Claudio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Pool misses with a takedown attempt and Claudio counters with a three punch combo that has Pool backing up. Pool nods at Claudio to acknowledge the strikes. Pool shoots in looking for a takedown but Claudio manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pool's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Pool throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Harper Pool has got the better of the ground game so far. Claudio wants to control but Pool postures up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Claudio takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Harper Pool is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Pool tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
And that's the end of the fight! Harper Pool comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Pool winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kerenzikov lands a big head kick that sends Silva tumbling to the mat! Kerenzikov takes a step backwards and waves Silva back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Mark Silva has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kerenzikov gets a big slam - oh, Silva is out! Silva is out! That's a nasty KO!

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mick Smithwick! The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Franklyn Lucas and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Smithwick misses. The fight moves into the clinch position. Spades has Smithwick pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Smithwick manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Spades wants a takedown.
Smithwick tries to circle away but Spades has him pinned against the cage. Smithwick is trying to break free. Spades is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smithwick to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ace Spades. That's going to take a lot out of him. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Smithwick creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
It looks like Ace Spades has been cut. Smithwick wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Spades jumps guard but Smithwick turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Smithwick breaks from the clinch.
Smithwick scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. No luck for Spades with that takedown attempt. Smithwick lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Smithwick throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Spades shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smithwick as he avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smithwick tries to clinch up but Spades circles away and keeps his distance. Smithwick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Spades manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. No luck with that takedown attempt from Spades. Smithwick clinches up with Spades and pushes him back against the cage. Spades keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smithwick's efforts to push away. Smithwick is trying to push Spades away but Spades has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Spades wants a takedown.
Smithwick tries to break the clinch but Spades is controlling the position. Smithwick has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Smithwick scores with a nice hook to the head.
Ace Spades's cut is getting worse. Spades is breathing heavily. Smithwick wants to break free but Spades has control.
Smithwick is trying to force a seperation but Spades has the dominant position. Smithwick pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spades has a takedown stuffed. Spades tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smithwick swats him away and circles back towards the center. Smithwick looks to clinch and Spades counters with an outside leg kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smithwick looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Spades showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smithwick.
Smithwick avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Spades tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smithwick paws at him with a jab and circles away. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Smithwick is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Smithwick displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Spades.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smithwick connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Spades tumbling to the canvas! Smithwick pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Spades was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Mick Smithwick! In his post fight interview, Mick Smithwick started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
