The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khalidov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nero defends it nicely.
Nero tries to bum rush Khalidov with a series of wild strikes but Khalidov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nero scores with a crisp jab that stopped Khalidov in his tracks.
Nero looks to land a right hand but Khalidov moved out of range.
Khalidov tries to close the distance and clinch but Nero swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Khalidov blocks the body kick.
Nero stuffs the takedown attempt from Khalidov. Khalidov gets slowly back to his feet.
Nero displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Khalidov.

and Nero connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nero lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Khalidov circles away quickly and effectively.
Khalidov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nero sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Khalidov somewhat.
Nero decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
