Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dee Jay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Marley! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Valeri Chadov and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jay as he avoids it easily. A head kick misses from Jay. Jay moves out of range of the strikes. Dee Jay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marley keeps the fight on the outside. Jay fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jay closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Marley should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Marley trying to control the position but instead, Jay has worked for underhooks and has pushed Marley into the cage. Marley goes for a takedown attempt but Jay pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A right-left combo lands from Jay.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jay clinches up against the cage. Jay lands a takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Marley looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Marley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jay defends well. Marley is trying to control the position but Jay postures up. Jay trying to control but Marley is working from the bottom. Marley looking to control but Jay passes into half guard.
Jay will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jay seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Jay wants to control but Marley is keeping him busy. Jay throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Marley is doing well to control the position and prevent Jay from advancing to side control. Jay is keen to just control but Marley is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Dee Jay wasn't doing enough on the ground. Marley has his takedown stuffed and Jay counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jay. Dee Jay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Marley. Marley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jay defends it easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jay makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Jay postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Marley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jay, into his guard. Marley trying to control but Jay is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jay controls Marley momentarily but Marley frees himself. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jay pulls Marley in close to prevent any damage. Marley throws a big right hand that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marley controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Marley trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jay on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jay tries to get out of the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jay closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marley to the mat! Marley manages to get full guard. Jay slips nicely into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dee Jay dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jay tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Marley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Jay fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marley thows a body shot but no joy. Jay shoots in but Marley avoids the takedown attempt easily. Marley swings away with a body shot that misses
and Jay connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jay shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Marley is looking to control Jay's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marley avoid being mounted? Marley actively working from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jay is looking to take a break and control but Marley is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Marley looking for submissions off his back. Jay is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Marley gets back to full guard.
Jay is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Dee Jay just wasn't active enough. Marley stuffs the takedown. Jay gets a clinch. Jay jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marley walks away with a smile on his face. Jay gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dee Jay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marley avoids the head kick by Jay.
Jay has taken the fight to the clinch.
Marley tries to stall but Jay uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Marley landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Jay knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marley on the ground. Marley is nestled in close to Jay, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Marley is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Marley wants to control but Jay is keeping him busy. Marley thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jay's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marley wants to take a breather but Jay is having none of it. Marley wants to pass the guard but Jay is defending well. Marley is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Jay has managed to free his arm - good work. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Marley content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Marley is working for a kimura but Jay is defending it quite comfortably.
Marley is breathing heavily. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marley looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bob Marley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Jay pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Dee Jay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Marley wants it to stay on the feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marley. Marley defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jay. Jay shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Marley as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dee Jay. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big right from Marley misses. Jay avoids the body shot from Marley.
Marley fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jay manages to avoid it. Jay blocks a jab. Marley gets tackled into the cage by Jay. Jay maintains the clinch. Jay breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marley shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jay defends it nicely. Marley circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marley ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jay moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marley feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Jay keeping moving, preventing Marley from controlling successfully. Marley might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jay kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Marley is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Jay has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Marley drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jay dives on top into guard. Marley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marley trying to keep a closed guard but Jay is proving a slippery customer.
Jay postures up in Marley's guard and throws a big left but Marley blocks it. Jay wants to control from the top but Marley keeps moving. Jay has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jayis looking to pass into half guard but Marley pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Marley is in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marley trying to control but Jay is working from the bottom. Jay is pulling down on Marley's head. It's preventing any offense from Marley, at least for the moment. Marley is stalling in the full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jay misses with an attempted mid kick.
And that's the end of the fight! Bob Marley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Marley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
