The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vodikoff with a lazy takedown attempt and Pogi counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Pogi throws a predictable looking body shot
and Vodikoff counters with a nice double leg into guard. Vodikoff throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Vodikoff throws a big right hand that misses. Vodikoff landing some decent shots from guard. Vodikoff throws a big elbow that misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vodikoff can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vodikoff is looking to work some ground and pound but Pogi has wrist control. Pogi not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Pogi has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Vodikoff doesn't defend quickly enough and Pogi has managed to lock this one up! Can Vodikoff escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pogi on a fantastic submission victory.

Perez looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Perez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Petrovich defends it well. Perez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Petrovich is trying to maintain the position but Perez is very close to passing his half guard. Perez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Petrovich sees it coming and defends easily. Perez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Petrovich does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Perez controlling the pace. Perez is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Petrovich regains full guard. Nicely done. Petrovich looking to control.

Mikail Petrovich has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Petrovich fails with the takedown and Perez counters with a takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Petrovich is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Perez's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Perez trying to pass the guard but Petrovich defending well. Petrovich is defending against the submission attempts here by Perez.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Perez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Petrovich works his way to full guard. Good work. Petrovich keeping moving, preventing Perez from controlling successfully. Perez postures up.
Perez must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Petrovich escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Perez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Perez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Petrovich trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Petrovich is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Perez is controlling him. Perez not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Perez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Petrovich sees it coming and avoids it easily. Perez shoots in and bounces Petrovich off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Petrovich lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Perez! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Blake Perez dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Perez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Petrovich's guard. Petrovich managing to control the position. Perez chips away with some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Perez working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Perez content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Petrovich has locked up a guillotine! Petrovich's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Perez is holding on here and Petrovich must be using up a lot of energy. Perez has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Petrovich gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
