The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rua throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Takamura was covering up waiting for the punch and Rua finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rua wants to pass the guard but Takamura is keeping the position.

Rua decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Takamura, up you get!

Takamura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rua. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rua takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Rua jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Takamura manages to avoid the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Takamura can do anything to dispel that myth.
The referee asks Rua politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Rua prefers to stall for the moment though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brock Rua will probably get the nod.
