2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Saunders! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Saunders shoots in but Misawa avoids the takedown attempt easily. Saunders shoots in looking for a takedown but Misawa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Saunders's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Saunders gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Misawa counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Mitsuharu Misawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ben Saunders. Saunders with a poor takedown and Misawa counters by moving into the clinch. Misawa creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Saunders's defenses.
It looks like Ben Saunders has been cut. Misawa lands an elbow that stopped Saunders in his tracks for a moment. A nice glancing elbow lands by Misawa. Saunders swings wildly with an uppercut but Misawa uses good head movement to avoid it. Saunders takes an elbow to the forehead.
That has opened up Ben Saunders's cut even more. Misawa gets underhooks to prevent Saunders's takedown attempt.
Misawa comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Misawa lands an elbow inside.

Ben Saunders's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kjeldsson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. D avoids a punch combination nicely.
D closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kjeldsson circles away. No luck with that takedown attempt from D. D throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kjeldsson's waist but Kjeldsson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing D off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan D. That's going to take a lot out of him. D throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. D looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Kjeldsson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kjeldsson wants to control but D is keeping busy and won't allow it. D is trying to control the action in half guard but Kjeldsson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Kjeldsson is looking for a sweep. D is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kjeldsson is not content to let D control the position. D throwing shots but Kjeldsson is blocking nicely. D missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Kjeldsson makes his way to full guard, as D worked for a kimura.
D throwing strikes but missing. Kjeldsson keeping moving, preventing D from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. D is in close to Kjeldsson's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's two minutes gone in the round. D is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. D throws a big elbow that misses. D postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Kjeldsson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. D trying to control but Kjeldsson is working from the bottom. D trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kjeldsson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. D trying to control the position from guard on top but Kjeldsson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kjeldsson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. D with a nice head shot there. Kjeldsson controlling D's posture. D in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kjeldsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in D's guard. Kjeldsson wants to control from the top but D keeps moving.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Rolad Kjeldsson wasn't active enough on the ground. D shoots in for a takedown but Kjeldsson shows good takedown defense. D shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. D moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. D avoids the head kick by Kjeldsson.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. D wants to slow Kjeldsson down by chopping away at his legs. D throws a leg kick which misses Kjeldsson's front leg but catches the back leg as Kjeldsson tries to avoid it. This has been an exciting period of action! No joy there for Kjeldsson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
D will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

D's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kjeldsson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! D scrambles back to his feet. Evan D is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Kjeldsson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kjeldsson goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kjeldsson works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Rolad Kjeldsson seems to be getting the better of the standup. Kjeldsson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
D shoots in but Kjeldsson avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Evan D. That's going to take a lot out of him. D throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Styles stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A swing and a miss from Brown. Brown throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Brown lands a slapping body shot.
Brown thows a body shot but no joy. Styles closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brown to the mat! Brown manages to get full guard. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Styles trying to control the position from guard on top but Brown is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Brown tries to land a sweep but no joy. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Js to score an easy takedown into full guard. Js prevents Carson from getting back to his feet. Js throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Carson keeping full guard, as Js tries to pass. Carson controls Js momentarily but Js frees himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
