0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hack Poll! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demario Bethany! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bethany shoots in for a double leg but Poll sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. No luck for Poll with that takedown attempt. Bethany moves into the clinch. Poll tries to pull guard but Bethany holds him up against the cage and eventually Poll drops back down to his feet.
Poll jumps guard and drags Bethany to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Poll might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bethany trying to control the position from guard on top but Poll is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bethany forces his way into half guard. Bethany is keen to just control but Poll is a slippery customer. Bethany is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Bethany wants to pass to mount but Poll is defending the position.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Killer takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Killer tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Poor manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Killer closes the distance and clinches up with Poor, looking for a takedown. Killer pushes Poor against the cage but Poor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Poor comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Poor drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Killer is adopting a defensive guard. Killer keeping moving, preventing Poor from controlling successfully. Killer trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Killer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Killer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Poor defends it easily. Poor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Killer is keeping the position for now.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conners gets a clinch. Conners gets control of King's arms and successfully pulls guard. Conners will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Conners has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Conners looking to sweep here. No luck so far. King might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Conners controlling King's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Conners fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. King fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Conners, pushing him back against the cage. Conners is looking for a takedown up against the cage. King gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. King looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Conners escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Horrible takedown by Conners or perhaps it was just good defense by King which made him look bad. Deven King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Conners. King moves into the clinch. King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Conners stands and throws King's legs to the side, diving into side control. Conners slows the pace down. Conners working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Conners tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Conners has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Conners landing strikes, looking to finish! This has been an exciting period of action! King is bucking up trying to escape but Conners cracks him with another couple of good strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Conners controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

King tries to keep at a distance but Conners has taken the fight into the clinch. Conners is trying to work for a single leg takedown but King pulls him back up using the underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. King stops a takedown attempt from Conners.

Deven King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Conners.
That's one minute gone in the round. Conners jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as King walks away with a smile on his face. Conners gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. King has closed the distance and engaged Conners in a clinch.
King blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. King is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Conners displaying some good clinch control by pressing King up against the cage. Conners wants the takedown. King is fighting it off but Conners persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in King's guard against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Conners engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Conners's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Let's hope that Conners has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Brian Conners wasn't active enough on the ground. Conners throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around King's waist but King gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Conners off to one side. Conners fails with a takedown attempt from distance. King rushes Conners and presses him up against the cage. Conners keeps control of King as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Conners pulls King in to control the position. Conners will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Conners has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Conners is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Conners showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Conners is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. King knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Conners on the ground. Conners seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Deven King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Conners instigates a clinch. King is trying to break the clinch but Conners is controlling him. Conners pulls King into guard.

King has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Conners bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in King's guard. Conners sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Brian Conners. Conners drives through and clinches with King against the cage.
Brian Conners is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. King goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

And that's the end of the fight! Brian Conners comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Conners has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
