I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Tony Stewart was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Stewart. Stewart fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Stewart shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stewart's guard. Sam Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Stewart. Smith stopping the sweep attempt from Stewart. Stewart manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.

A close round but Tony Stewart will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Stewart shoots for a takedown but Smith saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. No luck for Stewart with that takedown attempt. Sam Smith is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stewart doesn't succeed with the takedown and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Young pushes a forearm under Doofenschmertz's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Doofenschmertz is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Spanner swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nguyen will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Nguyen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Miyagi has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Miyagi is looking to clinch but Nguyen is avoiding it.

Miyagi motions for Nguyen to come forward. Miyagi throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Nguyen lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Nguyen pulls out of a head kick attempt.

It looks like Van Dinh Nguyen has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Nguyen creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Miyagi's defenses. Miyagi utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. The referee calls for Miyagi to work.
Miyagi tries to land knees in the clinch but Nguyen avoids the damage to the body. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Nguyen is trying to break the clinch but Miyagi is controlling him. Miyagi is trying to maintain a safe position but Nguyen gets an underhook and turns Miyagi into the cage. Miyagi is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Nguyen is defending well for now. Nguyen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Miyagi wants to clinch. Nguyen pulls out of a head kick attempt.

It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Nguyen cracks Miyagi with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Miyagi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nguyen moves in looking to clinch but Miyagi pushes him off. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nguyen throws out a leg kick but Miyagi moves out of range and Nguyen only half commits. Nguyen keeps the fight on the outside. Nguyen misses with a leg kick. Miyagi moves out of range of the leg kick from Nguyen. Nguyen misses with a low kick. Miyagi on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Nguyen. Nguyen obviously looking to wear him down.
Nguyen thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Miyagi if he has to take too many more of those.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Miyagi explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. A leg kick checked by Miyagi. Nguyen thows a left - swing and a miss! Miyagi misses with a head kick.

That was a close round but I would say that Kesuke Miyagi will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Van Dinh Nguyen's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
