Andrey comes to the cage accompanied by Gunther -Ding Dong Song . Rodriguez has chosen Loose Yourself by Eminem as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jayson Rodriguez! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodriguez on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Andrey. Andrey obviously looking to wear him down.
Andrey lands with a kick to the ribs.
Rodriguez misses with a jab, cross combination.
Andrey ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rodriguez moves away. Rodriguez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Andrey counters with a good low kick that Rodriguez was not able to check. Andrey chopping away at his opponent's legs.

It looks like Jayson Rodriguez has been cut. A head kick from Andrey lands but Rodriguez takes it in his stride. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rodriguez lands with a hook. Andrey tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Andrey dodges the punch combination from Rodriguez.
Rodriguez throws a nice looking combination but Andrey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Rodriguez jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Rodriguez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Andrey - the referee stops the clock and Rodriguez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Andrey. Rodriguez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Andrey showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rodriguez.

Andrey pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Thompson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Thompson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Cole Thompson's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. Thompson misses with a straight left. Thompson fails with a takedown attempt. Thompson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gambacorto. Thompson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akbar shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
It looks like Hunter Akbar has been cut. Smith feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Akbar's calf. Akbar slips a jab and a cross from Smith.
Akbar turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Smith throws a nice inside leg kick. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Smith goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Smith paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Akbar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Smith manages to avoid it. Akbar tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range. Smith darts in and clinches Akbar up against the cage. Akbar on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Smith gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Smith tries to stand but Akbar is controlling from the bottom. Smith postures up.

Gareth Smith has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Smith looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Akbar has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Akbar's legs - danger averted. Akbar is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.

Akbar misses with a leg kick and Smith counters with a big head kick but Akbar shrugs it off. Smith throws a right hand that Akbar ducks under and follows up with a left that Akbar also avoids with ease. Smith takes the fight into the clinch.

Akbar seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Smith has picked Akbar up - he's going for a ride! Smith dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith wants to stand but Akbar has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Akbar is positioning himself well to prevent Smith advancing to mount. Akbar avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Smith. Akbar is pressing down on Smith's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lao bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Helix drops his hands momentarily and Lao takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Helix thumps Lao with a low kick. Lao connects with a nice looking jab.
Lao is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Helix. Helix gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lao. Lao comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Helix takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Lao swings away with a body shot that misses
and Helix counters with an outside leg kick.
A jab from Helix misses. Lao moves into range and connects with a jab. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lao misses with a wild body shot. Helix cracks Lao with an open hand slap. Kung Lao seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lao misses with a straight right. Lao thows a body shot but no joy. Helix misses with a looping right. Kung Lao is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
