The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
George fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kickasschenkov.
George throws a leg kick which misses Kickasschenkov's front leg but catches the back leg as Kickasschenkov tries to avoid it.

and George counters with a slapping leg kick.
Kickasschenkov wants to clinch up but George keeps it at a distance.

George digs a good body shot into Kickasschenkov's ribs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

George throws a sloppy head kick and Kickasschenkov moves out of range easily.

Kickasschenkov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. George manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kickasschenkov throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kickasschenkov tries to close the distance and clinch but George swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kickasschenkov blocks the body kick.
Sean George seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kickasschenkov is looking to clinch but George is avoiding it.
Kickasschenkov sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Kickasschenkov takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Kickasschenkov has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from George.
Kickasschenkov slips under a jab.
George connects with a solid leg kick.
George buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kickasschenkov on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Kickasschenkov's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
George with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
George scores with a kick to the midsection.
Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Kickasschenkov might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, George has got the better of the exchanges.
Kickasschenkov is breathing heavily.
George and Kickasschenkov are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. George throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Kickasschenkov into next week! Ooooh that was huge! George knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Blow is refusing to be controlled, as Nieminen sits in half guard.
Nieminen throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Nieminen not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Nieminen is trying to control the action in half guard but Blow is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Nieminen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Blow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nieminen.
Blow on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Blow tries to get out of the position.
Blow is not content to let Nieminen control the position.
Nieminen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Nieminen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Blow turns into him and now he's in Nieminen's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nieminen cracks Blow with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nieminen shoots for a takedown but Blow saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Nieminen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Blow was covering up waiting for the punch and Nieminen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Matti Nieminen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Nieminen is looking to take a break and control but Blow is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Well Nieminen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
