The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cairo throws a predictable looking body shot
and Assange counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Cairo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Assange is fending him off so far but Cairo persists. Nope, Assange circles away and we're back to standing.
Assange throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sloppy strikes from Assange. Those never looked like landing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Assange. Cairo does a little dance to reset his feet.

Cairo has control of Assange's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Assange regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Assange is bucking up trying to escape but Cairo cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Assange is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Cairo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Assange has worked his arm free - good work by Assange!

Cairo wants to work for an arm triangle but Assange is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

You get the feeling that Assange really doesn't like being in this position too much.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cairo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Assange turns into him and now he's in Cairo's guard.

Cairo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Assange can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Cairo dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Assange reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Assange taps out! Nice BJJ there by Cairo!
