Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Maicon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Howard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Howard comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Juicy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maicon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Howard misses with a takedown attempt - Maicon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Maicon rushes Howard and presses him up against the cage. Howard is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real. Maicon is pressed up against the cage. Howard has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Maicon down to the mat. Maicon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Howard tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Maicon swivels and escapes. Douglas Maicon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Howard. Maicon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Maicon remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Howard wants to control but Maicon postures up. Maicon throws a strike aimed at the side of Howard's head but Howard avoids it well. Howard manages to get back to half guard. Maicon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Maicon seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Howard for as long as he can get away with.

Howard should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Maicon is standing up, even though he is in mount. Maicon darts in and clinches Howard up against the cage. Maicon jumps into guard, dragging Howard to the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Howard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

He's now in Howard's guard. Nice move by Maicon! Maicon seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Howard is trying to keep Maicon in close.
Maicon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Maicon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howard swivels though and keeps the full guard. Howard wants to sweep here but Maicon controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Howard drives through with a takedown into guard. Maicon is controlling Howard's posture. Maicon is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Howard defends well. Maicon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Kesler is landing with some decent strikes but Elenko is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Kesler controlling his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Despite being in the dominant position, Alex Kesler just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kesler moves into range and clinches up with Elenko.
And that's the end of the fight! Alex Kesler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Kesler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Rys looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rys wants to get back to his feet but Yves drags him back down. Yves creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Yves cracks Rys with an elbow. That is naaassty. Yves lands a nice forearm strike. Rys taking a bit of punishment here - Yves scoring with strikes. Yves is working Rys over with some ground and pound from side control. Rys is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Rys is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
