and Gallo counters with a takedown into side control. Gallo wants to control but Per is keeping him busy. Per struggling a bit here. Gallo taking a break here but Per is having none of it and regains half guard. Per looking for submissions off his back. Per actively working from the bottom here. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mikhalev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Arlovski manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Arlovski swinging wildly here.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mikhalev. Mikhalev shoots in for a takedown but Arlovski shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Arlovski circles away from the clinch attempt.

Mikhalev pushes Arlovski against the cage but Arlovski circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Arlovski keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Arlovski fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mikhalev wants to clinch up but Arlovski keeps it at a distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arlovski is looking to work some ground and pound but Mikhalev has wrist control. Mikhalev has momentary wrist control but Arlovski slips an elbow through the middle. Arlovski throwing strikes but missing. Arlovski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mikhalev works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Arlovski passes easily into side control. Nice work. Mikhalev is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Arlovski is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Bakak really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Behrooz is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bakak sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Bakak tries to score a power double leg takedown but Behrooz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bakak somewhat. Bakak looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Bakak trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Bakak chips away with some ground and pound. Bakak might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bakak looking to pass the guard. Bakak throws a big elbow that misses. Behrooz keeping moving, preventing Bakak from controlling successfully. Bakak got a little sloppy there for a moment and Behrooz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Behrooz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Behrooz! Bakak is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Bakak manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Behrooz throws an elbow that misses. Bakak uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Behrooz's guard. Nice move by Bakak! Bakak sitting in guard here, content to control. Bakakis looking to pass into half guard but Behrooz pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Behrooz is in guard. Behrooz controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bakak looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Bakak is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Behrooz defends well.

Behrooz works his way back into a safe position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Behrooz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Bakak is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Behrooz tries to free his leg and advance position but Bakak is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bakak can't keep his opponent in guard - Behrooz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Behrooz wants to work for an arm triangle but Bakak is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Behrooz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Behrooz manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Bakak keeping moving, preventing Behrooz from controlling successfully. Behrooz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bakak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stojanovic throws a head kick but Dodson moves out of range.
Dodson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Stojanovic to the mat! Stojanovic manages to get full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Dodson controlling from the top position. Stojanovic not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Dodson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. It looks like Dodson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
