Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mykka Hoivunen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erwin Santan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hoivunen comes to the cage accompanied by C SWEDEN SONG - swedish warriors. Hoivunen has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Erwin Santan! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoivunen fails with the takedown. Santan feints and as Hoivunen raises his hands in defense, Santan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Hoivunen is breathing heavily. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Santan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hoivunen works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Santan chips away with some ground and pound. Santan passes into half guard. Santan lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Santan trying to mount his opponent but Hoivunen defends it. Santan is nestled in close to Hoivunen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Santan passes to full mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Oooooh, big shot lands for Santan! Hoivunen is hurt baaadly! Santan is firing away with more strikes - Hoivunen is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Bot ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Ramirez scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bot throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ramirez lands a right hook to the body.
Ramirez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bot was well out of range. Poor timing from Ramirez. Bot has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ramirez finds it's way round the side to connect with Bot's head. Bot avoids the body shot from Ramirez.
Bot throws a right and a left that both miss. Bot thows a left - swing and a miss! A jab from Ramirez misses. Ramirez throws a hook but Bot blocks it. Ramirez getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Ramirez throws the left hand but Bot avoids the punch easily. Bot misses with a hook. Ramirez ducked under it nicely. Bot gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Ramirez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bot. A looping hook to the body misses from Ramirez. Bot does a little dance to reset his feet. Nice shot by Ramirez. Ramirez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bot.

Ramirez is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Bot had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Bot throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ramirez on the side of the head. Ramirez is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. The fighters circling - Ramirez throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Ramirez pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bot misses the shot to the body. Ramirez fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bot looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ramirez ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Ramirez misses with a jab, cross combination.

Ramirez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bot sees it coming and avoids it easily. Bot rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ramirez moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ramirez dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Ramirez slips a jab and a cross from Bot.

Ramirez slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Bot on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Bot takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Bot tries to move into range but Ramirez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Ramirez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Bot sprawling to the canvas! Bot rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Ramirez finish him?!
Bot is rocked! Ramirez lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Bot falls backwards - clearly groggy! Ramirez dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Cooper seems to have locked his on tight now - OConnell screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Cooper, as he picks up the win!

Mac fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Paul has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Mac tries to close the distance and clinch but Paul swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A nice inside leg kick there by Mac. That's going to slow Paul down. Mac connects with a solid leg kick. Paul looks gassed! Mac throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Mac feints and then cracks Paul's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Paul down. Mac lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sword misses with a takedown attempt and Poppy counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Poppy. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Poppy advances position into side control! Sword is looking for a sweep. Sword is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Poppy is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Poppy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sword has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That was a close round but I would say that Nick Poppy will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Sword closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Sword works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Poppy gets back to half guard. Sword working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sword sitting and controlling from the half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sword lands a nice short elbow. Poppy regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Sword. Sword avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sword is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Poppy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Poppy looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Poppy is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sword knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Poppy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sword is not content to let Poppy control the position.

Poppy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Poppy misses with a looping right. A swing and a miss from Sword. Sword shoots for a takedown but Poppy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Sword tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Poppy swivels and escapes. Nick Poppy has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kjell Sword. Poppy throws a shot from downtown. Sword moves away and avoids it. Sword throws an overhand right that lands on Poppy's shoulder, as Poppy tries to avoid the shot. Sword shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Poppy counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Poppy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sword defends it well. Sword is defending against the submission attempts here by Poppy.

Nick Poppy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Sword not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Sword drops an elbow to the side of Poppy's head. Kjell Sword has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Poppy trying to control here.
