Changa wants to get back to his feet but Quatro is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Quatro looking to pass the guard. Quatro stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Changa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Quatro wants to control from the top but Changa keeps moving. Changa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Changa is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Quatro closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Changa did well to prevent Quatro getting side control. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Quatro is trying to control the action in half guard but Changa is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Changa wants to get back to full guard. Quatro is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Changa looks like he's trying to stand up.

Quatro is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Changa has escaped the position, nice work there. Quatro scoring with punches from side control. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Quatro wants to control but Changa is keeping him busy. Changa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Quatro decides to stand back up. Quatro steps back and let's Changa get back to his feet. Changa misses with a wild combination.
Quatro closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Changa's guard.

Quatro wants to pass the guard but Changa is keeping the position. Changa is looking to stand up but Quatro isn't so interested in that idea. Changa is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Quatro trying to control the position from guard on top but Changa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
 We're going to have a standup here because Boss Quatro wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kran gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Simmons counters with a good low kick that Kran was not able to check. Simmons closes the distance and lands a crisp combination that knocks Kran out cold! Kran corner are devastated, head in hands behind our commentary position. Poor guys.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jackson Briggs! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zajtsev lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Briggs circles away quickly and effectively. Briggs shoots in looking for a takedown but Zajtsev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Briggs's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Briggs avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Zajtsev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Briggs is looking to control Zajtsev's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Briggs avoid being mounted? Zajtsev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Briggs knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Briggs is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Zajtsev's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Zajtsev's back! Zajtsev looking very determined here, making life difficult for Briggs.

He's turning a lovely shade of purple and yep! He's tapping out! I would say world class Jiu Jitsu but is it really? It was nice but let's not get silly about it.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves has a takedown stuffed. Thomas moves out of range of the body kick. Alves looks to land a combination but Thomas avoids it well. Thomas throws a hook but Alves blocks it. Alves gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Thomas. Alves lands a slapping body shot.
Alves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Alves jabs Thomas to the body, keeping him at a distance. Thomas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alves. Thomas connects with a right hand. Alves shakes it off. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alves crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Thomas - the referee stops the clock and Alves gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Thomas. Alves manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Alves swings away with a leg kick that misses. Thomas takes a swing at Alves's ribcage but misses. Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away. Alves wants to slow Thomas down by chopping away at his legs. Thomas throws a hook to the side of Alves's head but Alves sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Alves throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thomas stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alves throws a low kick but Thomas avoids it. Alves looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range. Thomas misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Alves.
Alves bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Liam Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Thomas throws a chopping leg kick but Alves manages to avoid taking any serious damage. An inside leg kick from Alves misses. Alves tries for a takedown but Thomas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Alves tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thomas was well out of range. Poor timing from Alves. Thomas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Liam Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves lands with a nice combination. Thomas backs away looking to recover. Thomas misses with a body punch
and Alves counters with a left and a right that stings Thomas. Thomas throws a jab when Alves was well out of range. A slow jab from Thomas misses its intended target. Alves is looking to wear down Thomas with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Thomas will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Alves scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Alves scores with punches from side control. Thomas can't do much from the bottom here. Alves will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Thomas sneaks back into half guard. Alves takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Thomas wants to control the position but Alves says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Alves wants to free his trapped foot but Thomas is holding on for dear life with his legs. Downer escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Downer fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Downer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Downer stuns Smith with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Downer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Smith swings around for an armbar but Downer sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smith's guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Miojo fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Fedotov to the ground. Miojo is now in Fedotov's guard. Fedotov is trying to control the position from the bottom.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Fedotov is trying to stick to Miojo's back but Miojo is turning into Fedotov. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Fedotov's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Miojo. Fedotov keeping moving, preventing Miojo from controlling successfully. Miojo lands a couple of digs. Miojo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Fedotov's head. Fedotov controls Miojo momentarily but Miojo frees himself. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miojo's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Fedotov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Fedotov is trying to control. Miojo wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Fedotov working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Miojo's thigh. Miojo counters though and makes it back to full guard. Miojo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Miojo throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
