The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Stratos.
Machida will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Pen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ridpath has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ridpath and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Ross Ridpath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Ridpath, right into the meat.
Pen slips a jab and a cross from Ridpath.

Ridpath throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Pen was covering up waiting for the punch and Ridpath finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Ridpath postures up in Pen's guard and throws a big left but Pen blocks it.
