2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Thia Li! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hernandez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Li but Li pushes him off and we're back to square one. A head kick misses from Li. Li throws a head kick that misses. Hernandez tries to clinch there but Li circles away.
Hernandez walks into a stiff left hand from Li.
It looks like Jose Hernandez has been cut. Hernandez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Li was well out of range. Poor timing from Hernandez. Hernandez shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Li is trying to defend but Hernandez finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Hernandez looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. It looks like Hernandez is going to stand back up.

Hernandez thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Li is not content to let Hernandez control the position. Li is trying to stand up here but Hernandez is controlling him well. Hernandez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Li has managed to free his arm - good work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Li throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Hernandez shoots in for a double leg but Li sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Li is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Li connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Hernandez to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Li!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales is looking to clinch. Gonzales drops his hands momentarily and Cardoso takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Cardoso throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Gonzales. Gonzales fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cardoso throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Cardoso ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Cardoso digs a good body shot into Gonzales's ribs. Cardoso with a hook. Cardoso thuds a left hand into Gonzales's body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Gonzales gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Cardoso looking for a takedown. Cardoso wants to break the clinch but can't.

Gonzales throws a shot from downtown. Cardoso moves away and avoids it. Gonzales tries to close the distance and clinch but Cardoso swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cardoso lands with a nice combination. Gonzales backs away looking to recover. Cardoso throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Cardoso misses the shot to the body. Nice shot lands for Cardoso.
Gonzales is rocked!
It looks like Migga Gonzales has been cut. Cardoso fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Gonzales to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Gonzales looks to clinch but Cardoso throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Gonzales taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Garcia displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jack Bquick. Jack Bquick is looking to clinch. Jack Bquick tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Garcia swivels and escapes. Jack Bquick clinches up with Garcia and pushes him back against the cage. Garcia is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Jack Bquick lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Jack Bquick presses Garcia against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Jack Bquick wants the takedown. Garcia is fighting it off but Jack Bquick persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Garcia's guard against the cage. Jack Bquick throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Garcia works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Garcia leaves Jack Bquick with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Garcia follows up with another monster hook that separates Jack Bquick from consciousness! Jack Bquick falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Garcia stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maxwell is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Evan. Evan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Maxwell tries to avoid it but Evan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Maxwell to the ground. Maxwell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Maxwell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Evan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Evan drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Maxwell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Evan defends well. Evan controls from within his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maxwell is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Maxwell keeping moving, preventing Evan from controlling successfully. Maxwell can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Evan controls the pace.
Despite being in the dominant position, Burk Evan just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Evan on the wrong end of a nice jab. Maxwell scores with the left hand. Evan knows he should have avoided that one. Evan is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Maxwell. Nice sprawl there from Maxwell as Evan shoots in.

That's going to take a lot out of Burk Evan. A left and a right from Maxwell both land. Nice combination. Maxwell tries to bum rush Evan with a series of wild strikes but Evan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Evan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Maxwell to the mat! Maxwell manages to get full guard. Evan looks gassed! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Evan won't allow Maxwell to get back to his feet. Evan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Maxwell wants to stand and escape but Evan is having none of it. Maxwell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maxwell throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Evan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Evan stops Maxwell from standing up. Maxwell trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Maxwell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Evan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Evan decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Maxwell slaps away a takedown attempt from Evan, before circling back to the center of the mat. Maxwell rushes Evan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Maxwell cracks Evan with a nice body shot. Maxwell escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Maxwell clinches. Maxwell will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Evan up against the cage. Maxwell lands a shoulder strike. Maxwell is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batton lands a jab-cross combination. Hickens looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Batton misses with a head kick.
