Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Igor Santana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vitor Belfort! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Yukihiro Shimada and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santana lands a nice leg kick that just misses Belfort's sensitive parts. Left hook, right uppercut from Santana. Belfort throws a sloppy head kick and Santana moves out of range easily. Belfort fails with an attempt to clinch.
Santana turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Belfort is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Santana misses with a jab, cross combination.

Igor Santana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Belfort misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Santana works over Belfort's head and body with a nice combination. Belfort shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Santana is trying to stand up here but Belfort is controlling him well.

Belfort not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Santana is breathing heavily. Belfort frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Belfort with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belfort takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Santana is squirming around, avoiding Belfort's attempts to control the action.

Belfort sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Santana wants to get back to his feet.

Belfort misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Belfort closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. You can see the frustration on Santana's face as Belfort controls the position. Belfort grinds an elbow into Santana's temple. Santana is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Belfort has just dragged him back down to the mat. Belfort wants to control but Santana is keeping him busy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Belfort tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Belfort has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Belfort is controlling him well. Santana is not content to let Belfort control the position. Santana seems a little lost for a moment, as Belfort dominates the positioning.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Belfort is trying to get an arm triangle but Santana is defending well. Belfort advances nicely into full mount.

Nope, Cro Cop circles away and we're back to standing. Stan Best seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Best tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cro Cop sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Best somewhat. Best gets the takedown into side control. Best looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Cro Cop is avoiding damage well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Best throws an elbow but Cro Cop slips to the side and avoids it well. Best scoring with punches and elbows. Best in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Cro Cop gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Cro Cop gets back to full guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lavi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. You can see the frustration on Drury's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Lavi swings around for an armbar but Drury sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lavi's guard. Drury wants to stand but Lavi is controlling his posture from full guard. Drury trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Lavi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Drury. Drury gets to his feet - Lavi follows without any prompting. No luck for Lavi with that takedown attempt. Lavi fails with a takedown attempt. Drury shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lavi manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Lavi tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Drury stalks Lavi and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Lavi's face. Lavi staggers backwards, shaken. Drury changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Lavi tries to move into range but Drury moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Drury tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. A kick lands to the mid section there for Drury. Drury looks to land a combination but Lavi avoids it well. Drury fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lavi sprawls well initially but Drury persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Drury decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Drury digs a good hook to Lavi's body.
Drury lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lavi circles away quickly and effectively. Lavi with a lazy takedown attempt and Drury cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A chopping leg kick lands by Drury. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Drury lands a lovely overhand right. Drury throws a series of strikes that have Lavi backpedaling.
Drury scores with a decent looking hook. Decent striking displayed by Drury there. No joy there for Drury, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lavi gets cracked there but stands up to it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lavi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Drury wants to control but Lavi is having none of it. Drury stuffs the takedown attempt from Lavi. Lavi gets slowly back to his feet. Drury lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Drury with a poor takedown and Lavi counters with a single leg into guard. Drury didn't expect that. Drury wriggles free and stands up. Drury scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Drury jabs at Lavi's body. Lavi with a lazy takedown attempt and Drury counters with a nice uppercut. Drury shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Drury lands a nice short elbow. Lavi is in trouble now - Drury has advanced to mount! Drury looking to control but Lavi is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Drury blocks Lavi's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Lavi keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Lavi takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Lavi closes the distance and clinches up with Drury, looking for a takedown. Lavi pushes Drury against the cage but Drury circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Frank Drury seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lavi scores with a takedown into Drury's guard. Lavi being controlled here momentarily. This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lavi prevents Drury from getting back to his feet. Lavi has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Drury. Drury gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Drury thumps Lavi with a low kick. Nice uppercut there from Drury.

Nice work. Danga de danga de dang - Drury scores with a four punch combination! Drury lands a jab to Lavi's midsection. Lavi tries for a takedown but Drury circles away easily and Drury counters with a stiff right hand. Lavi ducks right into an uppercut from Drury. Lavi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Drury counters with a series of strikes. Lavi will be more careful next time no doubt. Drury lands a nice shot to the body.

Drury feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Lavi's calf. Drury closes the distance and lands a one-two.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drury uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lavi has time to react. Drury throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Lavi. Drury shoots in for a takedown but Lavi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Drury doesn't succeed with the takedown and Lavi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Drury won't be happy with that. Drury is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Lavi has just dragged him back down to the mat. The strikes coming from Lavi are missing the target in this wave of attacks. A lull in the action here. A jab from Drury does it's job there. Cross Lavi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Drury, as that shot connected.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roosevelt keeps the fight on the outside. Intisar Ahmed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Roosevelt checks a leg kick nicely. Roosevelt shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Ahmed napping and manages to drive through into side control! Ahmed is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Roosevelt has just dragged him back down to the mat. Roosevelt tries to move into full mount but can't pass Ahmed's legs. You can see the frustration on Ahmed's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ahmed is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Roosevelt is controlling him well. Ahmed wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roosevelt keeps working. Roosevelt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ahmed's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ahmed's back!

He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Roosevelt gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Roosevelt apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Roosevelt instigates a clinch. Roosevelt has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ahmed clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Roosevelt controlling the position well here. Ahmed rolled but Roosevelt kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
