The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Butcher.
A head kick by Butcher misses
and Butcher takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Butcher rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pintor moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Butcher throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Butcher throws a right hand that Pintor ducks under and follows up with a left that Pintor also avoids with ease.
Butcher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Butcher misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Butcher throws a series of punches but Pintor avoids them all with ease.
Butcher plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Pintor gets in close and instigates a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Butcher trying to control the position but instead, Pintor has worked for underhooks and has pushed Butcher into the cage.

Pintor is trying to drag Butcher to the mat but Butcher just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Butcher breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pintor shoots in for a takedown but Butcher shows good takedown defense.
Butcher dodges the punch combination from Pintor.
Pintor slips a jab and a cross from Butcher.
Butcher looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Butcher throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Butcher is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Butcher closes the distance and clinches up with Pintor, looking for a takedown. Butcher pushes Pintor against the cage but Pintor circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Butcher scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Pintor chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Butcher can pounce on him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pintor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Butcher pinned against the cage. Butcher gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lupe Pintor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Butcher tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Pintor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Butcher's waist but Butcher gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pintor off to one side.
Butcher lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pintor checks the leg kick nicely there.
Pintor leaves Butcher with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pintor shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Butcher sprawls well. Butcher wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Pintor gets slowly back to his feet.

and Pintor counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Pintor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Butcher is trying to control the position but Pintor postures up.
Pintor in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Pintor is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Butcher is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Butcher has escaped and now he's on top!
Butcher postures up in Pintor's guard and throws a big left but Pintor blocks it.
Butcher throws a strike but Pintor rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Butcher wants to stand up but Pintor is controlling him.

Pintor throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Butcher works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Pintor postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Butcher is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pintor, into his guard.

Pintor has his foot on Butcher's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Butcher works his way back into a safe position though.
Butcher is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Pintor working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Butcher.
Pintor preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Butcher passes Pintor's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Butcher wants to take a breather but Pintor is having none of it.
Pintor throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

A nice leg kick lands there from Butcher.
Butcher stuffs the takedown attempt from Pintor. Pintor gets slowly back to his feet.
Butcher scores with a decent looking hook.
Butcher closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Pintor drops his hands momentarily and Butcher takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Butcher displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pintor.

Pintor shoots in and gets a takedown into Butcher's guard.

Butcher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Butcher is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pintor is controlling him.

Pintor tries to free his leg and advance position but Butcher is retaining full guard.

Butcher controls Pintor momentarily but Pintor frees himself.

Butcher looks like he's trying to stand up.

Pintor has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Butcher defend it? Pintor steps over the head and cranks it - Butcher is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Pintor!

After winning the bout, Lupe Pintor thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
