The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Raven, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maven tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Maven takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Mendez closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mendez lands in his opponent's guard.
Mendez trying to control the position from guard on top but Maven is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Mendez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maven is keeping the position for now.
Maven really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mendez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mendez passes Maven's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mendez is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Maven!
Maven is looking to improve his position but Mendez isn't that keen on the idea.
Mendez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Mendez cracks Maven with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
