3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stannis Baratheon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baratheon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Baratheon swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Diaz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Baratheon fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Diaz avoids it really well and circles away. Baratheon stuffs the takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet. Baratheon dives in and scores a takedown into Diaz's guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Diaz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Diaz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Baratheon is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Baratheon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Baratheon sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Diaz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here. Diaz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Baratheon misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Diaz is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Baratheon sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Diaz is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Baratheon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Baratheon displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Baratheon rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Diaz moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Diaz throws a front kick that sends Baratheon stumbling back into the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stannis Baratheon. Well Baratheon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Vega throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McDermot stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Vega scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Vega lands with a nice body punch. McDermot on the wrong end of a nice hook. Vega lands a nice hook to McDermot's body. McDermot takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. McDermot tries for a takedown but Vega sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Vega lands with an overhand left. McDermot takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Vega takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vega scores with a hook to the body. McDermot takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Vega stuffs the takedown. McDermot tries a head kick but it misses.

Vega catches McDermot with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Jimmy McDermot is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. McDermot fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Vega avoids it really well and circles away. Vega keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Vega connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McDermot's hands. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vega scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Nice takedown defense from Vega . No joy for McDermot on that attempt. McDermot with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Vega to score with a decent uppercut.
