The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Budoy has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Matador. An inside leg kick lands from Matador. Matador fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Budoy on the side of the head. Budoy keeps the fight on the outside. That kick from Matador tenderised Budoy's leg. Budoy is trying to keep his angry face on. A decent looking body kick lands there for Matador. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Matador throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Budoy looks gassed! Budoy chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Matador can pounce on him.
Nice jab there from Matador. Matador lands a high kick to the side of Budoy's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Matador dives into guard, looking to finish.

It looks like Mark Budoy has been cut. Matador trying to control the position from guard on top but Budoy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Budoy is still in real trouble! Can Matador finish him? Matador wants to stand but Budoy is controlling his posture from full guard. Budoy seems to have recovered his senses. Matador wants to control from the top but Budoy keeps moving.

We're going to have a standup here because Grand Matador wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Matador lands a high kick!
Matador cracks the inside of Budoy's front leg. Matador lands a leg kick that knocks Budoy off balance momentarily. A slapping body kick lands there for Matador. Matador scores with a nice body kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Matador feints and then cracks Budoy's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Budoy down. Matador lands with a nice body kick. A slapping body kick lands there for Matador. Jab by Matador. Budoy is breathing heavily. Matador lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Budoy is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag. Matador doesn't manage to clinch there - Budoy circles away.

This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Akyat might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far. Whack! Farias lands a heavy head kick that drops Akyat. The ref tackles Farias to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Akyat was done.
