Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnson McDiggler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phraya Pichai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McDiggler's entrance music is Eye of the Tiger. A fine choice. Pichai is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Solitary Man. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Phraya Pichai! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pichai wants to clinch. McDiggler avoids the head kick by Pichai.
Pichai fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with McDiggler, pushing him back against the ropes. Nice elbow from Pichai. Pichai misses with an elbow strike.
McDiggler jumps guard and drags Pichai to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Pichai must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Pichai wants to stand but McDiggler has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Pichai stopping the sweep attempt from McDiggler. Pichai has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McDiggler is proving hard to escape from. Pichai stopping the sweep attempt from McDiggler. McDiggler manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
McDiggler goes for an armbar but Pichai turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Pichai.

McDiggler keeps the fight on the outside. Pichai tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Pichai tries to clinch up and McDiggler counters with a takedown into side control. McDiggler tries for a kimura but Pichai is defending well. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. McDiggler is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pichai is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pichai can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pichai is pushing McDiggler's head away, looking to escape. McDiggler manages to hold on to the position though. McDiggler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. McDiggler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. McDiggler is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pichai knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McDiggler tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McDiggler has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Pichai is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the ropes but McDiggler has just dragged him back down to the mat. McDiggler goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pichai rolls with the submission and now he's on top in McDiggler's guard! Nice work there by Pichai!
That's four minutes gone in the round. McDiggler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pichai's guard. McDiggler drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Pichai dives on top into guard. McDiggler looking for a sweep. Not yet McDiggler, not yet. Pichai decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McDiggler, up you get! Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Pichai! McDiggler is out on his feet! Pichai rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - McDiggler is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! McDiggler is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Franklin throws a right and a left that Mohammad avoids nicely. Franklin rushes Mohammad and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Mohammad.
It looks like Pat Franklin has been cut. Mohammad tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Franklin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Pat Franklin's cut is getting worse. Franklin is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the ropes enables Mohammad to keep the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pat Franklin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mohammad lands a nice uppercut. Mohammad makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. A short uppercut from Mohammad. Mohammad's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Franklin is rocked! Mohammad lands with a left to the head. Oh Franklin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Mohammad creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Mohammad pushes Franklin against the ropes. Mohammad is working some dirty boxing. Mohammad pushes off with a quick right hook! Franklin goes down! Franklin tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Mohammad moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Diegtiarov paws at him with a jab and circles away. Diegtiarov looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Mason dodges the punch combination from Diegtiarov.
Mason misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mason misses with a low kick. Diegtiarov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mason is fending him off so far but Diegtiarov persists. Nope, Mason circles away and we're back to standing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mason connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Diegtiarov keeping moving, preventing Mason from controlling successfully. Mason wants to pass the guard but Diegtiarov is keeping the position. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Diegtiarov holds on and takes a little breather. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mason accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Diegtiarov is looking to stand up but Mason isn't so interested in that idea. Mason slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Diegtiarov. Diegtiarov is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Mason scores with a couple of nice shots. Mason decides to return to a standing position. Mason rushes Diegtiarov and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Mason escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mason shoots for a takedown but Diegtiarov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Mason shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Mason throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diegtiarov connects with a single shot there. Mason shoots in but Diegtiarov avoids the takedown attempt easily. Diegtiarov scores with a nice head shot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carl Mason showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Carl Mason is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Mason raining down hammerfists from mount. Mason controlling the position easily from mount. BOOM! Mason connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Mason lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Mason breaks from Diegtiarov's wrist control and lands an elbow. A nice elbow there by Mason. Mason lands with some strikes. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mason postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Diegtiarov looks a forlorn figure.

And that's the end of the fight! Carl Mason comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mason has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. With the fighters clinched against the ropes, Kau creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Kau tightens his grip and picks Jackson up, before dumping him to the ground. Jackson manages to land in guard. Kau must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Jackson is trying to control the position but Kau postures up. Jackson has momentary wrist control but Kau slips an elbow through the middle. Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kau doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Jackson is tightening it up a little... Kau has to be careful here... Well I reckon that's a shut out for Martinez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
