The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melphy throws a right hand that Cote ducks under and follows up with a left that Cote also avoids with ease.

Cote lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Melphy sprawling to the canvas. Cote follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Melphy hang on?

Melphy is rocked!

It looks like Mark Melphy has been cut.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cote decides to return to a standing position.
BOOM! Cote lands a beautiful left hook that drops Melphy. Melphy tries to recover but Cote is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Melphy lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Anka dives in and grabs Borrello's left leg, looking for a takedown. Borrello pushes down on Anka's head and hops out.
Anka stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Anka wants it to stay on the feet.
Borrello tries for a takedown but Anka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Anka gets a clinch.
Borrello has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Borrello lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Anka manages to pull guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Anka pushes Borrello off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Borrello lands with a straight right. Anka didn't see that one coming.
Borrello tries to bum rush Anka with a series of wild strikes but Anka uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Anka drives through with a takedown into Borrello's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Borrello thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Borrello is striking but Anka is not phased and passes to half guard.

Anka throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Anka is pushing Borrello up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Anka has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Borrello regains guard immediately.

Mendes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Mendes working the ground and pound but Johnson is defending the strikes.

Johnson fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mendes to the ground. Johnson is now in Mendes's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Floyd Johnson.
Well Mendes has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
