5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lord Viceroy! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Lou da Vinci and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Viceroy keeps the fight on the outside. Spudd uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Viceroy. Viceroy gets tackled into the cage by Spudd. Spudd maintains the clinch. Spudd softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Viceroy's face as he tries to break the clinch. Spudd pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Spudd avoids the body shot from Viceroy.
Lord Viceroy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Viceroy throws a right hand that Spudd ducks under and follows up with a left that Spudd also avoids with ease. Viceroy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Spudd. Spudd walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Viceroy throws a series of punches but Spudd moves out of range. Spudd keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Spuddis looking to pass into half guard but Viceroy pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Viceroy is in guard. Viceroy would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Viceroy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Viceroy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Spudd shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Viceroy's guard. Spudd keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Viceroy's head. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Spudd here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Spudd is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Viceroy is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Viceroy has escaped and now he's on top! Viceroy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Spudd is proving hard to escape from. Viceroy wants to stand and escape but instead Spudd has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Gerarld shoots for a takedown but McGuire saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
