McTowlie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Cyrus feints and as McTowlie raises his hands in defense, Cyrus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Oh but Cyrus is tightening it up a little... McTowlie has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! McTowlie reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! McTowlie taps out! Nice BJJ there by Cyrus!

Donkey shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Marsh defends it nicely.
Donkey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Marsh sprawls well. Marsh wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Donkey gets slowly back to his feet.
Marsh tries to clinch but Donkey is having none of it.

Donkey fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Marsh to the ground. Donkey is now in Marsh 's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Marsh working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Donkey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Marsh is tightening it up a little... Donkey has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Donkey reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Donkey taps out! Nice BJJ there by Marsh !

Givens bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jones's head backwards.

Tommy Givens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Indiana Jones.
Givens scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Givens lands with an uppercut that bounces Jones off the cage and back into range.

Jones has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.

Givens cracks Jones on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Jones falls backwards against the cage. Givens follows up with more strikes that drop Jones to his knees. Givens keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Jones! This one is all over!

Stevens will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dray shoots in looking for a takedown. Stevens tries to sprawl out of it but Dray keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stevens manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dray bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Stevens throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stevens misses with an uppercut. Dray saw that one coming.
Stevens goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Stevens throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Dray uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Stevens.

Stevens lands a left and a right that send Dray crashing to the mat, dazed. Stevens thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Stevens lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dray circles away quickly and effectively.
Stevens lands with a hook. Dray tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Stevens lands a jab.
Oh Dray is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Dray get stunned by a cross and takes another one on the button. Dray stumbles backwards and tries to bounce back off the cage but Stevens runs in and jumps on him with a leaping lead hook that puts him out! Wow, that was highlight reel stuff! Awesome finish!

Velazquez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Miranda shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Velazquez but Velazquez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Miranda backs away from a small jab... but Velazquez lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Miranda crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Velazquez with a spectacular finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Juan Velazquez! Juan Velazquez retains his welterweight title!
