The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coach shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Thomas tries to hold on but Coach pushes him away.

Coach stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Thomas fails with a takedown attempt.
Thomas tries for a takedown but Coach circles away easily
and Coach counters with a straight right hand.

Coach has managed to clinch.

Coach has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Thomas regains guard immediately.

Coach stands up from Thomas's guard - Coach perhaps looking for a knockout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Coach feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Derrick Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Coach shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Thomas's guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Portokalov throws a looping overhand right but Mendez ducks down to avoid it.
Portokalov misses with a left hand
and Mendez counters with a nice uppercut.

It looks like Limon Portokalov has been cut.
Mendez connects with a jab.
Portokalov throws a body punch but Mendez moves out of range.
Mendez slips a jab and a cross from Portokalov.
Mendez looks to land a combination but Portokalov avoids it well.
Portokalov keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mendez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Portokalov on the side of the head.

That has opened up Limon Portokalov's cut even more.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Portokalov enables Mendez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Portokalov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Mendez lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Portokalov! Mendez senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Portokalov out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!

Markakis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Markakis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Branton passes Markakis's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Markakis scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Branton manages to mount him!
Branton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Branton in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

It looks like Nick Markakis has been cut.

Branton throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Markakis has his hands clasped together but Branton breaks the hold and Markakis is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Branton!
