Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jake Giannacopulos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Tokugawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jake Giannacopulos has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jake Giannacopulos seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shogun Tokugawa! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tokugawa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Giannacopulos to score an easy takedown into full guard. Giannacopulos decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Giannacopulos misses with a hook to the body
and Tokugawa counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Tokugawa trying to control but Giannacopulos is working from the bottom. Tokugawa wants to stand but Giannacopulos is controlling his posture from full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Giannacopulos isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Tokugawa stacks Giannacopulos on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Tokugawa! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tokugawa tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Giannacopulos pushes Tokugawa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tokugawa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Giannacopulos manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Tokugawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Giannacopulos keeps working. Giannacopulos on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Giannacopulos tries to get out of the position. Giannacopulos looks like he's trying to stand up.
Giannacopulos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Tokugawa pulls his head out easily. Giannacopulos actively working from the bottom here. Tokugawa is pressing down on Giannacopulos's thigh, looking to free his foot. Giannacopulos is holding on for now. Giannacopulos is looking to get back to is feet but Tokugawa passes into side control.

Tokugawa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Giannacopulos keeps working. Tokugawa thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Giannacopulos is looking to reverse the position. Tokugawa decides to stand back up. Tokugawa doesn't manage to clinch there - Giannacopulos circles away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tokugawa avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fight moves into the clinch position. Tokugawa is pressed up against the cage. Giannacopulos has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tokugawa down to the mat. Tokugawa avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Tokugawa fails with a takedown attempt. Tokugawa uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Giannacopulos.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Tokugawa passes the guard and advances to mount! Giannacopulos wants to control but Tokugawa is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Shogun Tokugawa will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. The fight stays on the outside here - Tokugawa looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Giannacopulos blocks a head kick by Tokugawa.

Giannacopulos tries to improve position but can't. Tokugawa tries for a kimura but Giannacopulos is defending well. Giannacopulos is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Tokugawa manages to hold on to the position though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Giannacopulos tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Shogun Tokugawa. I think Tokugawa has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Wilson checks the leg kick. Kross looks to land a combination. Wilson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Kross misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wilson dodges the punch combination from Kross.

Folsom looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Folsom looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Folsom! Folsom knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Quitoriano on the ground. Folsom is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Quitoriano's shoulder. That is not cool.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Palumbo lands a body shot.
Palumbo looks to land a combination but Sweatpants avoids it well. Sweatpants scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Sloppy strikes from Palumbo. Those never looked like landing. Sweatpants throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Palumbo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sweatpants stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Palumbo lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Turner is looking to stand up but Hikaru isn't so interested in that idea. Turner avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's better than Hikaru was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hikaru with good strikes from the mount here! Hikaru throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hikaru controlling from mount. Hikaru avoids the attempt from Turner to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hikaru is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Turner has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Turner! Hikaru throws his legs up looking for a submission but Turner uses it to pass to side control.

and Hikaru counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Hikaru takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Turner tries to clinch up but Hikaru circles away and keeps his distance. Hikaru takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Turner motions for Hikaru to come forward. Turner throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Hikaru shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Turner connects with a leg kick. Hikaru looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Turner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Hikaru walks forward, straight into a front kick from Turner. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Turner tries to clinch but Hikaru moves out of range. Hikaru instigates a clinch.

Turner avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Hikaru takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Turner lands a leg kick that knocks Hikaru off balance momentarily. Hikaru takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Hikaru shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Turner but Turner pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ike Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akisame Hikaru. Turner pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Turner tries to close the distance and clinch but Hikaru swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Turner scores with a head kick. Hikaru tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hikaru motions for Turner to come forward. Hikaru throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Turner lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hikaru blocks a leg kick. The fight moves into the clinch position. Hikaru is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Turner lands a good knee to the midsection. Hikaru won't want to take too many of those. Hikaru swings wildly with an uppercut but Turner uses good head movement to avoid it. Turner misses with an elbow over the top.

He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Turner. Hikaru shrugs it off though. Turner misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hikaru.

I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hikaru might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Turner kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Turner is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Turner is not content to let Hikaru control the position.

Hikaru is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Turner has escaped the position, nice work there. Hikaru throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Hikaru advances to mount. Hikaru has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Turner blocking the ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Akisame Hikaru dominated that fourth round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Turner moves in looking to clinch but Hikaru pushes him off. Turner bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. A telegraphed right hand from Hikaru misses the target. Turner scores with the left hand. Hikaru knows he should have avoided that one. Turner throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hikaru sees it coming and avoids it easily. That's one minute gone in the round. Hikaru decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Hikaru trying to control from half guard but Turner is working away. Hikaru looks to land a strike but Turner avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Hikaru throwing strikes but missing. Hikaru forces his way into half guard. Hikaru moves into full mount! Turner won't be happy about that!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hikaru looking for a guillotine from mount but Turner is having none of it. Hikaru lands a big shot there that rocks Turner but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hikaru throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Hikaru tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Hikaru can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Turner is looking to escape. Akisame Hikaru is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Hikaru with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hikaru controlling his opponent. Ike Turner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hikaru wants to control the pace but Turner is squirming around nicely. Akisame Hikaru has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hikaru throws some wild stikes that Turner manages to avoid easily.
