The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Thomas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jones is defended easily by Thomas.
Thomas misses with a double jab
and Jones counters with a head kick.
Thomas looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well.
Thomas misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Thomas's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Thomas stands up and waves to Jones to follow him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Thomas clobbers Jones with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Thomas walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Thomas fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Jones on the side of the head.
Thomas thuds his right hand into Jones's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Thomas misses with the combination.
Thomas lands a nice shot to the body.
The crowd cheers as Thomas lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jones doesn't seem phased though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Thomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Jones is breathing heavily.
Thomas fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Thomas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Thomas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones is bucking up trying to escape but Thomas cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Derrick Thomas dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Thomas is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Thomas has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Jones clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Jones covering up well under a series of strikes from Thomas.
Thomas throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Thomas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and Thomas finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Plouman Snr misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Plouman Snr throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ment stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Plouman Snr is stalking Ment. Ment circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Plouman Snr, and it's lights out! Ment really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

Atreides working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Mahaffey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Atreides. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Atreides lands a nice short elbow.

Weiner uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ferguson has time to react.
Weiner connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Ferguson out cold! This one is over in a flash!
