15 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joey De Andreas! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Areeno moves into range and clinches up with De Andreas. Areeno misses with a knee to the head. Areeno misses with an elbow over the top. De Andreas has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Areeno after a bit of a struggle. De Andreas has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Areeno avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Areeno tries a knee to the head but De Andreas blocks it.
Areeno creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through De Andreas's defenses. Areeno lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Areeno lands an elbow inside. De Andreas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Areeno fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Areeno is looking for the choke from the back position but De Andreas is controlling his hands well. Areeno is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. De Andreas is defending well though. Areeno let's go of the attempt for now. De Andreas takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. De Andreas fending off the submission attempt from Areeno. De Andreas can't escape the position.
Areeno is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but De Andreas has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Areeno is trying to stick to De Andreas's back but De Andreas is turning into Areeno. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Areeno's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by De Andreas. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Areeno looking to control.

Joey De Andreas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
De Andreas shoots for a double leg takedown but Areeno sprawls well. He's pushed De Andreas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. The fight stays on the outside here - Areeno looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A telegraphed takedown attempt from De Andreas is defended easily by Areeno. Areeno fails in his attempt to clinch. De Andreas shoots in but no luck this time. Steve Areeno has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey De Andreas. Areeno throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. De Andreas uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Areeno. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Areeno lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and De Andreas has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from De Andreas and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Areeno throws a shot to the body.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Areeno is trying to stand up here but De Andreas is controlling him well. Areeno makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Areeno. De Andreas prevents Areeno from getting back to his feet. De Andreas postures up in Areeno's guard and throws a big left but Areeno blocks it. Areeno looking to hit a scissor sweep but De Andreas is one step ahead there. Areeno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De Andreas doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De Andreas manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. De Andreas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. De Andreas scoring with punches to the head and body.

De Andreas is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Areeno sees it coming and defends easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. De Andreas is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Areeno wants to control but De Andreas is keeping busy and won't allow it.

It looks like Bigsy Jones has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones misses with a body shot.

The feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down. The manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jones on his heels. He'll look to pass Jones's guard now, I'm sure. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. The throws a strike but Jones rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for The on the ground. The is trying to keep Jones in close.

Karhu saw that one coming. Utini throws out a loose jab but Karhu uses good head movement to avoid it. Utini dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Utini is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Utini misses with an uppercut. Utini moves out of range as Karhu strikes. Nice body kick from Utini. Karhu has picked Utini up and slammed him! Utini can't keep hold of the triangle and Karhu manages to pass to side control! Utini is trying to work for a sweep but Karhu has mounted him! Karhu cracks Utini with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Karhu has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Utini's face.

Karhu sitting in guard, not really doing much. Karhu might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Karhu passes into half guard. Utini is looking for a sweep. Karhu is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Utini is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Duvalier takes the fight into the clinch. Duvalier is trying to force a seperation but McDougle has the dominant position. Duvalier wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McDougle has him pressed against the cage. McDougle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
