The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matiss lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Matiss enables Spishak to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Matiss manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

A jab and a right hook connect and Dux buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Dux!! Dux is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Yoshioka throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, William Shimazu!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ting takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ting throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shimazu lands a slapping body shot.
Shimazu pushes Ting away with a front kick.

Ting clinches up with Shimazu and pushes him back against the cage.
Ting scores with a hook to the body.
Shimazu is trying to maintain a safe position but Ting gets an underhook and turns Shimazu into the cage.
Ting avoiding damage as Shimazu throws knees to the body.

Ting pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A low kick from Shimazu is predictable there
and Ting counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The fighters circling - Ting throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Shimazu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Shimazu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ting sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shimazu somewhat.

Shimazu goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ting rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Shimazu's guard! Nice work there by Ting!

Ting stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shimazu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ting wants to control from the top but Shimazu keeps moving.
Ting controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Shimazu is trying to control the position but Ting postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Leung Ting.
Ting slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Ting jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ting avoids the body shot from Shimazu.
Ting takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Ting tries to close the distance and clinch but Shimazu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ting is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Ting jabs Shimazu to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Shimazu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Shimazu fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Shimazu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ting looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shimazu ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Shimazu fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
A big right from Ting misses.
Ting stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Ting wants it to stay on the feet.
Leung Ting has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Shimazu.

Shimazu thows a body shot but no joy.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ting misses with an uppercut. Shimazu saw that one coming.
Shimazu has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ting finds it's way round the side to connect with Shimazu's head.
Shimazu goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Shimazu uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Ting has time to react.
Shimazu is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Ting rather than just go for the knockout.

Shimazu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ting as he avoids it easily.

Leung Ting is winning the standup battle so far.
Good leg kick by Shimazu there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ting wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Shimazu takes one on the button.
Ting jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Shimazu is rocked!
Ting avoids a kick to the body.
Ting misses with an uppercut.
Shimazu throws a solid leg kick but Ting takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Shimazu.
Ting looks to land a combination but Shimazu avoids it well.
Shimazu shoots in but Ting avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A slow jab from Shimazu misses its intended target.
Shimazu circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ting lands a right hook to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Shimazu lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ting has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ting and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Ting throws a lazy right hand but Shimazu sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ting misses the shot to the body.
Shimazu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ting.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ting scores with a jab. Shimazu acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Shimazu is still on wobbly legs! Can Ting finish him?
Ting fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Shimazu out cold! Brutal finish!
