Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Renato Rua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Billy Do! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Dillan Fox and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Do. That did some damage! Do waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Rua. Rua uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Do. Do drives through with a takedown into Rua's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Do throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Do with a flurry of punches that miss. Rua wants to sweep but no luck. Rua is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Do defends well. Do trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rua looking to control.
Do missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Rua working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Do. Rua has his hands on Do's head, controlling the position. Do throwing strikes but missing. Do stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rua swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rua is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Do is in close to Rua's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rua wants to sweep here but Do controlling him for the moment. Do wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position. Rua trying to keep a closed guard but Do is proving a slippery customer.

Do trying to control but Rua is working from the bottom. Rua wants to get back to his feet but Do is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Do with a flurry of punches that miss. Rua has his foot on Do's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Do works his way back into a safe position though. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rua is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Do tries to free his leg and advance position but Rua is retaining full guard. Rua is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Do defends well. Do has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Do wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position. Rua is trying to control the position from the bottom.

A head kick misses from Do. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rua walks into a stiff left hand from Do. Do fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Do lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Billy Do dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Do then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rua slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Do connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Do scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Do cracks Rua with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Do has a takedown stuffed. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Do looks to score with a jab to the body but Rua is just out of range.

Do tests Rua's chin there with a solid looking shot. Rua throws out a leg kick but Do moves out of range and Rua only half commits. A swing and a miss from Rua. Do's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Do duly obliges. A momentary lapse in concentration from Rua enables Do to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Rua manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Rua wants to sweep here but Do controlling him for the moment. Rua has control of Do's left arm, preventing Do from doing any damage.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Do works over Rua with some ground and pound from guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Do scoring with punches to the head and body. Do connects with a couple of short punches. Rua avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Do trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Do slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Do's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Rua is trying to control the position but Do postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rua is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rua content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Do keeps control of the position for the meantime. Rua throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Rua trying to control from half guard but Do is working away.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A head kick misses from Rua. Rua misses with a left hand and Do counters with a single leg into guard. Rua didn't expect that. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Do in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Billy Do showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Rua throws a body punch but Do moves out of range. Rua fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Do manages to avoid it. Do throws the kick towards the body but Rua avoids it. Do throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rua sees it coming and avoids it easily. Do uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rua.
Do takes a kick to the side of the head. Rua throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rua tries to move into range but Do moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Do lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rua has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rua and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Do slips a jab from Rua. Rua scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Do cracks Rua with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Do throws a big shot that misses. Do lands a jab to the head.

Rua ducks under a wild hook from Do. Do misses with a looping right. Rua shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Rua walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Good work by Do as he checks the leg kick. Rua looks to score with a jab to the body but Do is just out of range. Billy Do seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rua finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Do throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rua was covering up waiting for the punch and Do finishes the takedown easily into guard. Rua is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Do defends well. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Do throws a big elbow that misses. Do trying to control the position from guard on top but Rua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Do got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rua has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Do has managed to get both his arms back between Rua's legs - danger averted. Rua bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Do's guard. Do controls Rua momentarily but Rua frees himself. Rua trying to control but Do is working from the bottom. Do looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Do looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rua is one step ahead there. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rua accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Billy Do. Well Do has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chen takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Lee keeps Chen at a distance using the push kick. Jab from Lee. Lee misses with a head kick.
Lee slips under a jab. A big left from Lee misses. Lee is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chen. Lee lands with a straight right. Chen didn't see that one coming. Lee sizes up Chen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Good shot there by Lee. A jab from Lee misses. Lee is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Chen dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chen forces Lee back against the cage and clinches. Lee blocking some punches.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chavez. Chavez gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Christopoulos. Chavez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Christopoulos tries to avoid it but Chavez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Christopoulos to the ground. Christopoulos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Christopoulos takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Some wild striking there from Chavez.
Left hook, right uppercut from Christopoulos. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd cheers as Chavez lands an impressive looking overhand right. Christopoulos doesn't seem phased though. Christopoulos shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Chavez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Christopoulos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Christopoulos enables Chavez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Christopoulos manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Chavez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Chavez won't allow Christopoulos to sweep him here. Chavez postures up in Christopoulos's guard and throws a big left but Christopoulos blocks it. Chavez sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Christopoulos's guard. Chavez landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Christopoulos wants to improve his position but Chavez is controlling well.
Chavez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Christopoulos keeps working. Chavez thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Christopoulos's head. Chavez prevents Christopoulos from improving his position. Christopoulos regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Chavez.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chavez is working Christopoulos over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Chavez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chavez wants to pass the guard but Christopoulos is keeping the position. Chavez throwing strikes but missing. Chavez works over Christopoulos with some ground and pound from guard. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Chavez is looking to work some ground and pound but Christopoulos has wrist control. Christopoulos keeping full guard, as Chavez tries to pass. Chavez postures up and lands a big shot to Christopoulos's brow. Chavez postures up in Christopoulos's guard and throws a big left but Christopoulos blocks it. Chavez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Christopoulos had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chavez defends it easily.

Christopoulos lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Chavez! Chavez keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Christopoulos breaks from Chavez's wrist control and lands an elbow. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Christopoulos landing strikes from the mount. Chavez is looking to improve his position but Christopoulos isn't that keen on the idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Juan Chavez will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Christopoulos fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Christopoulos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Chavez circles away quickly and effectively. Chavez lands a nice shot that snaps Christopoulos's head back.

Chavez closes the distance and clinches up with Christopoulos, looking for a takedown. Chavez pushes Christopoulos against the cage but Christopoulos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Jab, jab by Chavez - just one landing. Christopoulos slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Christopoulos throws a combination. Chavez tries to block but a couple of punches get through. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Chavez throws a head kick that misses. Juan Chavez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Chavez moves away from the strike by Christopoulos. Chavez misses with a jab, cross combination.

A close second round but Jason Christopoulos will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Christopoulos misses with a shot to the body and Chavez counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Christopoulos takes a shot right to the bread basket. Christopoulos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Christopoulos wants it to stay on the feet. Christopoulos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Chavez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Christopoulos. Chavez is not content to let Christopoulos control the position. Christopoulos wants to pass to mount but Chavez is defending the position. Christopoulos is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Chavez defends it well.
