2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jay Tarver! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ric Landeverde! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tarver shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Landeverde counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Tarver has his foot on Landeverde's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Landeverde works his way back into a safe position though. Landeverde wants to control from the top but Tarver keeps moving. Tarver will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Landeverde content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortiz fails with a takedown attempt. Salsbury closes the distance and clinches up with Ortiz, looking for a takedown. Salsbury pushes Ortiz against the cage but Ortiz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Salsbury shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Salsbury shoots in but no luck this time.
