Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Schwahn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nicolas Reynaud! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reynaud checks the leg kick. A shot to the liver by Reynaud. Beautiful body shot. Schwahn takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Reynaud just misses with a punch to the body.
Reynaud lands with a shot to the body. Schwahn shoots for a double leg takedown but Reynaud sprawls well. He's pushed Schwahn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Schwahn gets the takedown into side control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Schwahn creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Reynaud is trying to improve his position. Schwahn creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Reynaud sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Reynaud tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Schwahn presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Schwahn trying to control but he's not successful this time. Reynaud really wants to buck Schwahn off and get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynaud tries to lock up and control but Schwahn gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schwahn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reynaud looks a forlorn figure.
Schwahn controlling the pace for now. Schwahn can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Reynaud is looking to escape. Reynaud tries to hold on but Schwahn pushes him away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwahn breaks from Reynaud's wrist control and lands an elbow. Reynaud is bucking up trying to escape but Schwahn cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Reynaud is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Schwahn putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Reynaud squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Schwahn postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Reynaud looks a forlorn figure.
Reynaud is rocked!
It looks like Nicolas Reynaud has been cut. Schwahn breaks from Reynaud's wrist control and lands an elbow. Reynaud is still in real trouble! Can Schwahn finish him? Schwahn is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Schwahn extends the arm and Reynaud is forced to tap!
