0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orlando Vergara! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vergara tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kerr swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kerr misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kerr pushes Vergara up against the cage in a clinch. Vergara tries to land a knee to the head but Kerr blocks with his arms.
Vergara lands a damaging elbow. Vergara is trying to stall.

It looks like Mark Kerr has been cut. Vergara connects with a knee to the head.

Vergara wants to get up but he can't break Kerr's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Vergara is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Vergara wants to pass the guard but Kerr is keeping the position. Vergara stands up and waves to Kerr to follow him. Vergara forces Kerr back against the cage and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Kerr lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Vergara looks winded! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Still in half guard, Kerr seems content to control. Kerr is trying to control the action in half guard but Vergara is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mark Kerr. Kerr misses with a takedown attempt - Vergara sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Kerr. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vergara closes the distance looking to clinch and Kerr counters with a three punch combo that has Vergara backing up. Vergara nods at Kerr to acknowledge the strikes. Kerr gets a clinch. Vergara missing with knees to the body.

It looks like Orlando Vergara has been cut. Vergara closes the distance but Kerr moves to the side and Kerr counters with a nice double leg into side control. Vergara won't be happy with that. Vergara is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Kerr misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kerr wants to control but Vergara is keeping him busy. Vergara prevents Kerr from moving into mount. Kerr is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Vergara knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kerr is looking to take a break and control but Vergara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mark Kerr will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Vergara tries to clinch but Kerr moves away and Kerr counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Vergara is pressed up against the cage. Kerr has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Vergara down to the mat. Vergara avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Kerr circles away from the clinch attempt and Kerr counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kerr is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Kerr postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Vergara is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Kerr, into his guard. Vergara is looking to stand up but Kerr won't let him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kerr is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Kerr keeping moving, preventing Vergara from controlling successfully. Kerr is trying to control the position but Vergara postures up. Kerr wants to control the position but Vergara says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Vergara decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Vergara tries to clinch up but Kerr circles away and keeps his distance. Vergara tries to clinch but Kerr is having none of it. Kerr misses with a body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vergara goes for a high kick. It partially lands. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kerr swats away the attempt to clinch by Vergara. Vergara tries to grapple but his opponent circles so Kerr counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kerr trying to control the position from guard on top but Vergara is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kerr stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vergara swivels though and keeps the full guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Kerr is working hard here to advance position.

And that's the end of the fight! Mark Kerr showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kerr, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kitsune wants to control from the top but Collumbo keeps moving. Kitsune tries to free his leg and advance position but Collumbo is retaining full guard. Kitsune chips away with some ground and pound. Kitsune content to stall in guard here. Kitsune drops back looking for a leg! Collumbo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Collumbo manages to kick Kitsune off! Kitsune jumps back into Collumbo's guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Kitsune has hold of Collumbo's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Collumbo tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Kitsune cranks the arm and Collumbo screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Collumbo, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
