Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoshi Mucao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yoshi Mucao struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paul swings for the body but Mucao moves out of range.
The crowd cheers as Paul lands an impressive looking overhand right. Mucao doesn't seem phased though. Paul takes a swing at Mucao's ribcage but misses. Paul sends Mucao crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Paul is motioning to the referee to let Mucao up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Mucao is rocked! A swing and a miss from Mucao. Mucao is still on wobbly legs! Can Paul finish him? Paul lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Mucao - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Paul!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McBride tries to clinch there but Iwasaki circles away.
McBride checks a low kick from Iwasaki. McBride tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! McBride takes one on the chin but seems OK.
McBride drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
It looks like Ricky McBride has been cut. Iwasaki lands with a thumping leg kick.

This has been an exciting period of action! McBride working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Iwasaki. Iwasaki drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Iwasaki jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Iwasaki trying to control but McBride is working from the bottom. Iwasaki trying to control the position but McBride is working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. McBride slips under a jab. McBride staying out of range there. Iwasaki throws a leg kick that misses. Iwasaki tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but McBride was well out of range. Poor timing from Iwasaki. McBride throws a head kick that Iwasaki semi-blocks.
Iwasaki darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Iwasaki decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Iwasaki lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Iwasaki lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice uppercut lands for Iwasaki. That snapped McBride's head back.
Iwasaki shoots in looking for a takedown. McBride tries to sprawl out of it but Iwasaki keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McBride manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Iwasaki misses with a low kick. McBride takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. McBride tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Iwasaki lands a nice leg kick that just misses McBride's sensitive parts. McBride is breathing heavily. Iwasaki chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Iwasaki cracks McBride with an open hand slap. A bone on bone clash there as Iwasaki blocks the leg kick.
Iwasaki cracks McBride with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Iwasaki blocks a head kick by McBride.
Iwasaki lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McBride throws a sloppy head kick and Iwasaki counters with a stiff right hand. Iwasaki connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. McBride walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. McBride moves forwards but Iwasaki connects with a nice, crisp jab. Iwasaki checks the leg kick. Good shot there by Iwasaki. Jab by Iwasaki. Iwasaki looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Iwasaki working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Iwasaki trying to control the position from guard on top but McBride is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Iwasaki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Iwasaki looking to pass the guard. Iwasaki postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Iwasaki drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but McBride manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Iwasaki has McBride in his guard. Iwasaki keeping moving, preventing McBride from controlling successfully. McBride is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Iwasaki is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Iwasaki has escaped and now he's on top! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. McBride working for submissions but it's allowed Iwasaki to get to half guard.

Iwasaki feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McBride's calf. Iwasaki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Iwasaki lands in his opponent's guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Iwasaki passes into half guard. McBride blocking the ground and pound attempt from Iwasaki. McBride is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Iwasaki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Iwasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but McBride keeps working. Iwasaki sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McBride defending well though. McBride looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Iwasaki is trying to control. McBride wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. McBride is looking for a sweep. Iwasaki is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

McBride throws a head kick that misses. McBride on the wrong end of a nice hook. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. McBride clinches but Iwasaki breaks the clinch and Iwasaki connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. A jab from Iwasaki does it's job there. McBride will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
McBride throws a lazy head kick and Iwasaki counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. McBride looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Iwasaki throws a one two combo.
Iwasaki lands a nice hook to McBride's body. McBride takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Iwasaki is looking to slow McBride down with leg kicks. McBride looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Iwasaki bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Shigenori Iwasaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Iwasaki.

Ricky McBride's cut is getting worse. A decent looking cross lands there for Iwasaki. Iwasaki fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Jab, jab by Iwasaki - just one landing. A nice leg kick lands there from Iwasaki. McBride seems to have got his legs back now. Iwasaki connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between McBride's hands. McBride throws a head kick that misses. Iwasaki lands with a straight right. McBride didn't see that one coming. Iwasaki with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
McBride throws a sloppy head kick and Iwasaki moves out of range easily. Iwasaki lands a really nice looking cross but McBride seems unphased.
McBride takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Iwasaki is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in McBride's half guard. Iwasaki is nestled in close to McBride, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Iwasaki stands up and beckons McBride to join him on the feet. Iwasaki changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Iwasaki scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. McBride doesn't seem bothered though. McBride takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

A jab from Iwasaki does it's job there. Iwasaki punishes McBride's body with a nice straight punch. Iwasaki scores with a sloppy right hand. McBride should have avoided that one. Iwasaki with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Iwasaki fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McBride on the side of the head. Iwasaki scores with a hook to the body. McBride takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McBride takes one to the side of the head.

Iwasaki feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends McBride sprawling to the canvas! McBride rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Iwasaki finish him?!
Iwasaki drops McBride with a straight left! Oh this is bad for McBride! Iwasaki dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Dawkins thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Krom really wants to buck Pieru off and get back to his feet. Yrjo Pieru has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Krom is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Canthropus avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Canthropus lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Aoyki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Aoyki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Aoyki. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Aoyki looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Canthropus lands a head shot. Aoyki shoots in but Canthropus avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Canthropus, right into the meat.

Aoyki is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Aoyki shoots in but no luck this time. Aoyki throws a leg kick that is checked and Canthropus counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Aoyki thinking. Canthropus misses with a jab, cross combination.

That sent Aoyki stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Aoyki tries to land a front kick but Canthropus steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Canthropus lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Canthropus is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Aoyki had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. A low kick from Aoyki is predictable there and Canthropus connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Jab from Canthropus. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Canthropus fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Canthropus throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Canthropus misses with a body kick. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Aoyki uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Canthropus. Canthropus ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Canthropus swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Aoyki. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pithe Canthropus dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Aoyki has his takedown stuffed and Aoyki takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Canthropus throws a looping overhand right but Aoyki ducks down to avoid it. Aoyki misses with a wild body shot. Aoyki bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Canthropus throws a nice outside leg kick. Canthropus lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Aoyki at a distance.

Aoyki throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Aoyki keeps control of the position as Canthropus tries to break free.
Aoyki is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Canthropus defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Aoyki is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Canthropus is defending well though. Aoyki let's go of the attempt for now. Aoyki struggling to keep hold of the position.
