Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mc Connan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chad Shinoda! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Connan fails with an attempt to clinch.
Connan with a lazy takedown attempt and Shinoda counters by clinching up. Shinoda gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Connan regains guard.
Shinoda gets to his feet - Connan follows without any prompting. Shinoda feints and as Connan raises his hands in defense, Shinoda changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Connan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Shinoda controls the pace. Shinoda trying to control but Connan is working from the bottom. Connan wants to hit a switch here but Shinoda passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Connan there! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shinoda working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Connan turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Shinoda off and cradles Connan's limp body as Shinoda celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Chad Shinoda!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reynolds keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Asura drives through with a takedown into Reynolds's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Asura trying to control but Reynolds is working from the bottom. Asura keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reynolds's head. Asura lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Asura throwing strikes from guard but Reynolds blocks nicely. Asura in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Asura drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Reynolds dives on top into guard. Asura utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Reynolds in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Asura looking for a sweep. Not yet Asura, not yet. Reynolds trying to control the position from guard on top but Asura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Asura pulls Reynolds in to control the position. Reynolds postures up in Asura's guard and throws a big left but Asura blocks it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reynolds postures up.
Reynolds stopping the sweep attempt from Asura. Asura keeping moving, preventing Reynolds from controlling successfully.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Asura has his takedown stuffed and Reynolds moves into the clinch. Asura avoids the elbow strike from Reynolds, against the cage.
Reynolds is trying to break free. Asura blocks the elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Asura jumps into guard, dragging Reynolds to the mat.
Reynolds trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Asura looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Reynolds trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Asura holds on and takes a little breather. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Asura preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Reynolds with a flurry of punches that miss. Reynolds is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Reynolds trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Reynolds slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Reynolds trying to control the action but Asura is working from the bottom. Asura defending against the ground and pound. Reynolds has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Asura manages to work his way to half guard, despite Reynolds's best efforts. Asura is in trouble now - Reynolds has advanced to mount! Reynolds jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Asura manages to avoid the submission attempt. Asura tries to buck Reynolds off but Reynolds is having none of it. You can see the frustration on Asura's face as Reynolds controls the position. Reynolds is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Asura has escaped the position, nice work there. Reynolds is working to tighten is grip on Asura's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Asura has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Reynolds is really squeezing tight and eventually Asura passes out! Reynolds breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
