Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ole Solseng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Solseng might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Iron Horse - Hero of the Day. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

No joy there for Smith, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smith gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

It looks like Paul Smith has been cut.

Solseng lands a left hand.
Solseng scores with a shot to the side of Smith's head.
Smith can't break the clinch.
Smith looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Solseng digs a right hand into Smith's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Smith's gas tank.

That was a close round but I would say that Rakhmetov Chernyshevsky will probably get the nod.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rizal Farahin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Decimus clinches up with Farahin and pushes him back against the cage.
Farahin has Decimus pressed against the cage, preventing Decimus from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Decimus takes an elbow to the temple.

It looks like Maximus Decimus has been cut.
Decimus is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Farahin is defending well.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Farahin.
Decimus throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Farahins head.
Decimus wants to get back to striking at distance but Farahin won't allow it.
Decimus dodges an elbow strike from Farahin.
Farahin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Decimus goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Farahin misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Decimus.
Decimus takes an elbow to the forehead.
Farahin pushes off an throws an elbow but Decimus leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Decimus is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Farahin is defending well.
Farahin lands an elbow that stopped Decimus in his tracks for a moment.

Decimus is trying to break the clinch but Farahin is controlling him.
Farahin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Farahin misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Decimus.
Decimus tries to break free but Farahin pushes him back against the cage.

Decimus gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Decimus wants to pass the guard but Farahin is keeping the position.
Decimus chips away with some ground and pound.
Decimus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Decimus trying to control the position from guard on top but Farahin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Decimus working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Farahin's head.

Farahin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Decimus is one step ahead there.
Decimus with a flurry of punches that miss.
Decimus won't allow Farahin to get back to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Decimus controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Decimus trying to control the position from guard on top but Farahin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Decimus is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Decimus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Decimus throws a big right hand that misses.
Decimus landing with the ground and pound.
Farahin looking for a sweep. Not yet Farahin, not yet.
Farahin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Decimus.
Decimus working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Decimus is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Decimus advances position into side control!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
An elbow from Decimus crashes against the mat.
Farahin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Decimus's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Decimus slips a nice elbow through Farahin's hands, connecting with Farahin's forehead.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Decimus not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Decimus throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Decimus postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Farahin to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Decimus misses with a hook.
Farahin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Farahin changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Farahin fails in his attempt to clinch.
Farahin tries a head kick but it misses.
Farahin uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Decimus.
Decimus swings for the body but Farahin moves out of range.
Decimus throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Farahin sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Decimus gets the takedown into side control.

Decimus is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Farahin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Decimus gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Farahin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Decimus lets go of the hold and Farahin can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Maximus Decimus!
Maximus Decimus retains his bantamweight title!
A less than humble Maximus Decimus misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
