The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Elmar lands with a shot to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Elmar is defended easily by Deans.

Deans drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Elmar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Deans can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Elmar is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Deans is posturing up here but Elmar has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Deans tries to roll out but it's too tight and Deans has to tap! Slick submission there by Elmar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wall lands with a nice body punch.
Germain throws a right and a left that Wall avoids nicely.
Germain fails in his attempt to clinch.
Germain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Wall feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Germain throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wall escapes and throws Germain's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Wall is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Germain will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

and Wall counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.

Wall throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Germain stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Wall closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Germain is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Wall jumps into side control!

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
