Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ulfric Taque!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Taque manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mir is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Taque.
Taque misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Taque lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Mir walks into a stiff left hand from Taque.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Taque throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Taque missing with a left hand there. Mir was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Mir closes the distance but Taque moves to the side

and Taque lands a stunning uppercut that sends Mir to the mat!

Mir is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Taque is looking for a kimura but Mir is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Taque to get the leverage.

Mir is breathing heavily.
Taque tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mir controls his leg.
Taque looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mir with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Taque with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Mir won't allow Taque to pass to mount.
Mir could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mir tries to roll over but Taque keeps him under control.

Mir wants to get back to full guard.

Mir tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Mir looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Taque perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Taque prevents Mir from improving his position.
Taque really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Taque content to control rather than advance.
Mir wants to get back to full guard but Taque has passed into side control.

Taque tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Taque is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Mir is looking for a sweep.
Taque trying to control the position but Mir is working away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mir tries to bench press Taque off him but Taque keeps the position.

Taque tries for a kimura but Mir is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ulfric Taque dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Frank Mir's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Mir tries to clinch up but Taque circles away and keeps his distance.
Taque stuffs the takedown attempt from Mir. Mir gets slowly back to his feet.
Mir shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Taque counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Taque throws a nice looking combination but Mir bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Mir takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Taque closes the distance and lands a brutal uppercut that knocks Mir out! We're looking at the replay now - he was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ulfric Taque!

Salas fails to land with a series of punches.
Sagdiyev avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sagdiyev takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Salas throws a nice looking combination but Sagdiyev bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Sagdiyev lands a high kick!
Salas ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Sagdiyev tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Sagdiyev pushes Salas up against the cage in a clinch.
Sagdiyev scores with a shoulder strike.

Sagdiyev pulls guard successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Salas scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Salas advances to half guard.
Salas thows a huge punch but Sagdiyev dodges it nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Salas slips a nice elbow through Sagdiyev's hands, connecting with Sagdiyev's forehead.
Salas seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Salas misses with a few strikes there.
Salas misses with a wild combination.
Salas fails to land with a series of punches.
Sagdiyev has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Salas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sagdiyev circles away quickly and effectively.
Sagdiyev is trying hard to land a takedown here. Salas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Sagdiyev is breathing heavily.
Sagdiyev looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Salas closes the distance and clinches.
Salas tries to break free but Sagdiyev pushes him back against the cage.
Salas lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Sagdiyev crunches a lovely knee into Salas's ribcage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Salas gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Salas decides to stand up.
Sagdiyev takes a jab right on the kisser.

Salas clinches up with Sagdiyev and pushes him back against the cage.
Salas is trying to push Sagdiyev away but Sagdiyev has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Sagdiyev is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Salas to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Borat Sagdiyev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Salas is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Salas is looking to break free of the clinch but Sagdiyev has double underhooks.

Salas darts in and clinches Sagdiyev up against the cage.

Salas turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Salas decides to stand back up. Salas steps back and let's Sagdiyev get back to his feet.
Salas lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Sagdiyev is rocked!
Some wild striking there from Salas.
Salas paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Oh Sagdiyev is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sagdiyev showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Salas.
Sagdiyev backs away from a small jab... but Salas lunges forward with a huge superman punch! Sagdiyev crumples to the ground as his mouth piece is sent flying! Salas with a spectacular finish!
