Rocha jerks Panther's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Panther drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Rocha goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Rocha because Panther was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hardy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Godfrey has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Godfrey and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Ross Hardy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Godfrey is pushing Hardy up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Hardy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Godfrey's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hardy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hardy is pushing down on Godfrey's leg trying to pass to half guard. Godfrey is fighting to maintain full guard but Hardy has managed to sneak the leg through.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hardy in particular looking to stall.
Hardy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Hardy is nestled in close to Godfrey, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Hardy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Godfrey looks a forlorn figure.

Hardy is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Godfrey can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Watene gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Moodheads is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Watene is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Watene flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Moodheads anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Watene and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Moodheads slips an arm under Watene chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Moodheads has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Moodheads is squeezing on Watene like an anaconda would it's prey. Watene fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Roper shoots in and bounces Hasegawa off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Hasegawa is looking to sinch up a triangle. Roper throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hasegawa's body to avoid the submission. Hasegawa has instead reached around Roper's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hasegawa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Go Hasegawa!
Go Hasegawa was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
