1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Joe Scum! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Langley gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Scum. Langley is trying hard to land a takedown here. Scum sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Langley misses with a takedown attempt - Scum sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Nice takedown defense from Scum. No joy for Langley on that attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ian Langley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Scum throws a right and a left that both miss. Danga de danga de dang - Scum scores with a four punch combination! Scum moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Langley is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Scum misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Oh Langley is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Langley looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scum blocking the ground and pound attempt from Langley. Langley seems to have got his legs back now. Langley has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Langley prevents Scum from improving his position. Well, if Langley is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Scum has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Langley is working away from the top position though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Scum can do anything to dispel that myth.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Scum keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Scum stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Scum wants it to stay on the feet. Nice sprawl there from Scum as Langley shoots in. Scum slaps away a takedown attempt from Langley, before circling back to the center of the mat. A combination from Scum does no damage. Langley closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Langley lands in his opponent's guard. Scum is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Langley is controlling him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Langley is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Langley passes easily into side control. Nice work. Langley creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Scum sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Langley advances to full mount. Langley trying to control but he's not successful this time. Langley controlling the pace for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Langley cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Langley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. BOOM! Langley connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Langley lands a nice shot to the head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Scum gets caught napping as Langley dives in and scores a takedown. Scum manages to retain guard. Scum really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Langley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Langley looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Langley is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Langley is standing up over Scum. Scum looks to escape but Langley dives into side control.
The referee asks Langley politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Langley prefers to stall for the moment though. Langley scores with punches from side control. Ian Langley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Scum is rocked! Langley is working to tighten is grip on Scum's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Scum has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Langley is really squeezing tight and eventually Scum passes out! Langley breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Brewer.
Newgate throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Newgate has a takedown stuffed. Newgate fails with a takedown attempt. Brewer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The strikes coming from Brewer are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Newgate really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Brewer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Newgate keeps working. Brewer wants to stand but Newgate is controlling his arm. Brewer working the ground and pound. Newgate tries to improve position but can't.

Newgate shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Brewer counters with a thumping low kick. Newgate wants to clinch up but Brewer keeps it at a distance. Brewer drives through with a takedown into guard. Newgate wants to stand and escape but Brewer is having none of it. Newgate looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's one minute gone in the round. Newgate bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brewer's guard. Brewer wants to stand and escape but Newgate is having none of it. Brewer working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Newgate doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Newgate manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Newgate is looking to stand up but Brewer won't let him. Newgate seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Newgate has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Jones is adopting a defensive guard. Diaz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jones is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jones has escaped and now he's on top! Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cheney forces Pearson back against the cage and clinches. Pearson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Nice sprawl there from Cheney as Pearson shoots in. Cheney darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Cheney circles away from the clinch attempt.
Decent striking displayed by Cheney there. Cheney shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pearson pinned against the cage. Pearson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Pearson shoots in for a takedown but Cheney shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Zeref Cheney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pearson throws a jab when Cheney was well out of range. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cheney scores with a decent looking hook. Pearson lands a front kick.

Cheney shoots for a double leg takedown but Pearson sprawls well. He's pushed Cheney's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Alistair Pearson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zeref Cheney. Cheney goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Decent striking displayed by Cheney there. Cheney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Cheney throws a front kick aimed at Pearson's knee but Pearson avoids it well. Cheney looks for a takedown but Pearson sprawls well. Cheney slaps away a takedown attempt from Pearson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Cheney is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Pearson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cheney shoots in looking for a takedown. Pearson tries to sprawl out of it but Cheney keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pearson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Cheney ducks under a wild hook from Pearson. Cheney misses with a two punch combination.
Pearson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cheney is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pearson. Pearson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cheney.

Cheney scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Pearson fails in his attempt to clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pearson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zeref Cheney dominated that round. That's time! Pearson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Pearson tries to grapple but his opponent circles enabling Cheney to counter with a crisp jab. Pearson shoots in but Cheney avoids the takedown attempt easily. Pearson tries to close the distance and clinch but Cheney swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Pearson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Pearson closes the distance and clinches. Cheney ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cheney no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Cheney keeping full guard, as Pearson tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cheney controls Pearson momentarily but Pearson frees himself. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Cheney wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cheney wriggles free and stands up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alistair Pearson. Well Cheney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
