No, Cascara escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Cascara! Koscheck manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cascara is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Koscheck! Cascara wants to control the pace but Koscheck is squirming around nicely. Cascara wants to control but Koscheck has made it back to half guard. Nice work. Cascara just misses with a punch to the body.

Cascara changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Koscheck, as that shot connected.

Lionel Cascara is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Cascara is pushing Koscheck up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Cascara lands with a right to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cascara stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Ross Koscheck has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cascara with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Lannister shoots in looking for a takedown but Fighter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lannister's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lannister scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Lannister has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Fighter is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Lannister yanks on the arm and Fighter is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Lannister.

Capoeira wants to clinch up but Matsui keeps it at a distance. Capoeira is looking to clinch. Capoeira closes the distance but Matsui moves to the side and Matsui decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Capoeira's guard. Matsui throws a strike but Capoeira rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Matsui is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Capoeira will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Matsui escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Capoeira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

A much better position for Matsui. Matsui looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Capoeira passes into side control.

Matsui loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Capoeira working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Matsui. Matsui wants to control from the top but Capoeira keeps moving. Capoeira knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matsui on the ground. Matsui with a flurry of punches that miss.

Matsui tries to score with some ground and pound. Capoeira controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. Matsui misses with the ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Capoeira managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Matsui.

Matsui makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Matsui postures up in Capoeira's guard and throws a big left but Capoeira blocks it. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Margera lands with a cross. Margera moves into the clinch. Margera working some nice short punches in the clinch. Write wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Margera has him pressed against the cage. A short left from Margera. Write is trying to force a seperation but Margera has the dominant position. A shot in the inside from Margera. Margera lands with a short head shot on the inside. Margera lands a left hand that snaps the head of Write backwards.
Write is rocked! Write changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Margera fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Write thows a leg kick but Margera checks it and Margera counters with an inside leg kick. Write throws a leg kick and Margera counters by moving into the clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Margera keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Write's efforts to push away. Write is looking to break free of the clinch but Margera has double underhooks.

A low kick from Write is predictable there and Margera counters with a low kick, right behind Write 's knee. Write throws a leg kick and Margera counters with a leg kick. Write misses with a leg kick and Margera counters with a big right hand! Oh Write is in trouble here! Margera follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bam Margera! Bam Margera retains his lightweight title! Bam Margera decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice jab there from Spahn. Spahn swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No luck for Spahn with that takedown attempt. The Turk connects with a solid leg kick. The Turk lands with a shot to the body. Excellent takedown into side control there by Spahn. The Turk parries the strikes from Spahn easily there. Spahn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable The Turk to escape.
Spahn throwing strikes but The Turk manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! The Turk gets to mount! Spahn was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Spahn tries to get back to half guard but can't. Spahn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Spahn wants to hold on but The Turk pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. This has been an exciting period of action! The Turk controlling from mount. Spahn can't escape the position.
Spahn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Spahn slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Spahn wants to control but The Turk is keeping busy and won't allow it. The Turk trying to control the action but Spahn is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spahn wants to improve his position but The Turk is controlling well.

Spahn slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Spahn trying to keep a closed guard but The Turk is proving a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The Turk stands up from Spahn's guard - The Turk perhaps looking for a knockout. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Spahn shoots in for a double leg but The Turk sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Spahn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The Turk goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. A head kick misses from The Turk. A momentary lapse in concentration from The Turk enables Spahn to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. The Turk manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The Turk manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Spahn manages to get himself to full guard.

Spahn drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but The Turk manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Spahn has The Turk in his guard. Spahn throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The Turk engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Spahn looking to hit a scissor sweep but The Turk is one step ahead there. Spahn looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but The Turk puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Spahn wants to improve his position but The Turk is controlling well.

It partially lands. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The Turk fails with an attempt to clinch.

Spahn loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Spahn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Spahn wants to pass the guard but The Turk is keeping the position. The Turk wants to get back to his feet but Spahn is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The Turk avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Spahn is looking to work some ground and pound but The Turk has wrist control. The Turk preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The Turk pulls Spahn in close to his closed guard and prevents Spahn from doing any damage or advancing position. Spahn postures up and lands a big shot to The Turk's brow. The Turk pushes Spahn off and scrambles back to his feet.
Spahn shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Turk's guard. Spahn passes easily into side control. Nice work.

He's almost out here... but no, Spahn gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Spahn sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but The Turk is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The Turk tries to buck Spahn off but Spahn is having none of it. Spahn scoring with punches and elbows. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Spahn working the strikes but The Turk uses the opportunity to regain half guard. The Turk wants to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rik Spahn. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Spahn, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
