Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lucas Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ian Langley! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Langley leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Jones pivots, looking for a leg kick but Langley is out of range and Jones settles back down. Langley shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jones as he avoids it easily. Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Langley fails with a takedown attempt. Langley drives through with a takedown into guard. Langley sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard. Jones tries to kick Langley off but Langley keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Jones actively working from the bottom here. Langley slows the pace down in half guard. Jones won't allow Langley to pass to mount. Langley is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jones is just riding it out for now. Langley eventually gives up the hold. Langley is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Langley pulls his head out easily. Langley is controlling the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones looks like he's trying to stand up.
Langley works his way into side control. Langley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working. Langley misses with the ground and pound. Langley takes a little break here. Jones wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Langley on the ground. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Langley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jones keeps working. An elbow from Langley crashes against the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Langley looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Jones is trying to get back to half guard. Langley connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Jones some visible discomfort.
Langley has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Langley wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Langley controls the position. Jones dodges the ground and pound from Langley. Langley advances to full mount. Langley unloading with bombs! Langley looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Jones is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Langley unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Jones wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Langley celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
