1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jacques Gabriel! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vita uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gabriel. Vita closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Gabriel quickly recovers to half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Gabriel has hold of Vita's hands but Vita slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Gabriel is looking for a sweep. Vita is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gabriel is refusing to be controlled, as Vita sits in half guard. Gabriel is trying to get back to full guard. Gabriel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Gabriel has his foot on Vita's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vita works his way back into a safe position though. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gabriel is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Vita defends well. Vita lands a couple of decent looking shots. Gabriel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vita doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vita manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Vita has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vita scoring with some ground and pound. Vita working some strikes from top position. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vita accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vita preventing the sweep. Gabriel avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Vita postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Gabriel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Gabriel is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Vita rolls with it to try and escape but Gabriel cranks on the arm and Vita is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Man fails to land the takedown. Oknenaileme misses with a hook. Man displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Oknenaileme throws out the jab. Man tries to clinch up. Oknenaileme misses with a hook. Man fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Man wants to clinch but Oknenaileme slips to the side and Oknenaileme counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Oknenaileme. Oknenaileme comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Oknenaileme prevents Man from breaking the clinch. Oknenaileme lands an elbow inside that Man shrugs off. Oknenaileme gets underhooks to prevent Man's takedown attempt.
Rodef Oknenaileme has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Solo Man. Oknenaileme lands an elbow that stopped Man in his tracks for a moment. Man takes an elbow to the forehead. Man manages to pull guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Man has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oknenaileme slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Man has his feet on Oknenaileme's thighs here. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kita moves into the clinch successfully.
Kita breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kita rushes Lukaski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Kita breaks from the clinch.
Kita tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lukaski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Lukaski throws a low kick, looking for Kita's leg but Kita calmly moves out of range. Kita has Lukaski up against the cage in a clinch.

Kita displaying some good clinch control by pressing Lukaski up against the cage. Lukaski could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Lukaski doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Lukaski has a takedown stuffed. The fight stays on the outside here - Kita looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kita connects with a body shot that sends Lukaski's belly button to the back. Kita darts in and clinches Lukaski up against the cage. Kita's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Kita tries to close the distance and clinch but Lukaski swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kita fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Gelfand throws a solid leg kick but Nishi takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Gelfand. Gelfand shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Nishi gets tackled into the cage by Gelfand. Gelfand maintains the clinch. Gelfand lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Nishi can do anything to dispel that myth. Gelfand is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Nishi has managed to free his arm - good work. Gelfand performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Gelfand trying to control from Nishi 's half guard. Nishi has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Nishi working for a triangle but Gelfand defends it easily.

Nishi fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gelfand to the ground. Nishi is now in Gelfand's guard. Gelfand has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nishi is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gelfand. Nishi working the body and head with strikes. Gelfand tries to improve position but can't. Gelfand struggling a bit here.

Gelfand is working to avoid the ground and pound but Nishi connects with a decent elbow. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nishi moves into full mount! Nishi is working for a guillotine from mount but Gelfand frees his head quite easily.

Nishi shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gelfand sprawls well. Gelfand wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nishi gets slowly back to his feet. Nishi tries to clinch there but Gelfand circles away.
Nishi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nishi drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gelfand knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nishi on the ground. Gelfand struggling a bit here. Gelfand tries to buck Nishi off but Nishi is having none of it. Nishi wants to stand but Gelfand is controlling his arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nishi has control of an arm but Gelfand manages to advance to Nishi 's back! Oooh a big shot gets through from Gelfand. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Gelfand gets his hands free as Nishi looks to control. Gelfand is working the ground and pound. Can Nishi escape? Gelfand is trying to stick to Nishi 's back but Nishi is turning into Gelfand. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Gelfand's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Nishi . Gelfand keeping moving, preventing Nishi from controlling successfully. Gelfand working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Nishi has passed into half guard!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Gelfand in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Nishi landing strikes from the mount. Gelfand keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nishi is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Gelfand has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Gelfand! Gelfand wanted to stand there but Nishi had control of the position. Nishi throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Well, if Nishi is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Nishi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gelfand's guard. Gelfand tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gelfand doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Nishi slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Nishi wants to stand but Gelfand is controlling his posture from full guard. Gelfand trying to keep a closed guard but Nishi is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nishi seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nikola Nishi wasn't active enough on the ground. Gelfand changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nishi tries to avoid it but Gelfand manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nishi to the ground. Nishi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gelfand slaps away a takedown attempt from Nishi , before circling back to the center of the mat. Gelfand instigates a clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ryan Gelfand. I think Nishi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
