Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, DingDong Dantes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Haya Bernie McAwesome! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dantes throws a quick inside leg kick. Dantes slips under a jab. Dantes thumps McAwesome with a low kick. Dantes cracks the inside of McAwesome's front leg. Dantes fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Dantes tries to clinch up but McAwesome circles away and keeps his distance. Dantes misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
McAwesome throws a hook but Dantes blocks it. Dantes lands a head kick. McAwesome smiles back at him and beckons him forward. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dantes throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. McAwesome looks winded! Dantes tries to close the distance and clinch but McAwesome swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Dantes lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Dantes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! McAwesome swats away the attempt to clinch by Dantes. A chopping leg kick lands by Dantes. McAwesome circles away from the clinch attempt.
Crunch! Dantes slams his shin into McAwesome's torso. Dantes sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks McAwesome to the ground! Dantes dives into full mount looking to finish!
McAwesome is rocked! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Dantes is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but McAwesome is surviving well by controlling Dantes's body position as best he can. McAwesome is still in real trouble! Can Dantes finish him?
That's one minute gone in the round. Dantes looking to secure an arm triangle but McAwesome defends it well. Dantes is looking to stand but Dantes has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
McAwesome seems to have recovered his senses. Dantes looking for a guillotine from mount but McAwesome is having none of it. Dantes is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But McAwesome has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from McAwesome!
That's two minutes gone in the round. McAwesome stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dantes swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Dantes can't keep his opponent in guard - McAwesome advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Dantes manages to get to full guard.
McAwesome thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Dantes is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McAwesome is aware though and is defending well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McAwesome postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dantes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of McAwesome, into his guard. Dantes is posturing up here but McAwesome has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Dantes tries to roll out but it's too tight and Dantes has to tap! Slick submission there by McAwesome!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Haya Bernie McAwesome! Haya Bernie McAwesome decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Damtea misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Joaquin.
Damtea throws the left hand but Joaquin avoids the punch easily. Joaquin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Damtea misses with a right hand and Joaquin moves into the clinch. Damtea tries to pull guard but Joaquin won't allow it.
Damtea fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Joaquin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Damtea tries to pull guard but Joaquin won't allow it.
Rodger Joaquin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sailo Damtea. Damtea fails to pull guard.

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Joaquin walks away with a smile on his face. Damtea gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Damtea is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Joaquin avoids the head kick by Damtea.
Damtea takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Damtea tries to clinch but fails miserably and Joaquin counters with a nice double leg into side control. Damtea won't be happy with that. Joaquin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Damtea keeps working. Damtea is trying to get back to half guard. Joaquin advances nicely into full mount. Damtea is squirming around, avoiding Joaquin's attempts to control the action. Joaquin with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Poor timing from Stone. Stone uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vitor. Stone darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Stone is taking a breather. Vitor says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Stone moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Vitor.

Vitor is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Stark connects with a crisp jab. Jones throws out a leg kick but Stark moves out of range and Jones only half commits. Stark throws a low kick but Jones moves out of range easily. Stark thows a body shot but no joy. Stark throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range. Jones is looking to chop away at Stark's legs. Stark throws a right hand that Jones ducks under and follows up with a left that Jones also avoids with ease. Stark uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jones has time to react. Some bone on bone action there as Stark checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Jones takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Stark moves forwards but Jones connects with a nice, crisp jab. We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Hed in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. Hed misses with a looping left. Eiichi misses with a wild body shot. A punch combination from Hed misses. Eiichi fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eiichi is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hed. Eiichi drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Hed right on the button. Hed goes down! Eiichi follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Eiichi gets the win via TKO!

It looks like Brock Barnett has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wong rushes Barnett and presses him up against the cage. Wong lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
